It wouldn't form an aurora visible in Colorado INSTANTLY; could take hours to ramp up. Auroras aren't instantaneous.
Impact doesn't mean immediately look outside, if you see nothing, give up and go to bed :-)
The Magnetic field is beginning to dip more south, it's almost neutral.

Here at aurora central, there was some diffuse red glow and a lot of dim, diffuse green, but not what one would call an interesting auroral display. Seen better, many times.
