Hey John. The interplanetary magnetic field just flipped and spiked hard south. I sure hope the clouds clear in western PA for tonight. I might head to Erie view a northern view across the lake.

Working 2M AU out here into Northern W6. TVI on 6M so have to lay low right now. Lot of backscatter signals on 6M to southeast. W7GJ in Montana 5/8 on backscatter on 50.125 earlier. Crazy mix of propagation modes this afternoon out here. Hawaii into mainland, nothing here yet.
de 6M op in CN85

Man, my neck is already killing me and I am freezing. But I am getting an awesome view here in Iowa. I have seen northern lights before, but never like this. WOW!

How long should this display last? They seem to be brewing up in the northern sky and then passing directly over to the south.

Reminds me of the old school video game "Tempest" for some reason.

I can't see anything in Iowa. Maybe the city lights are too bright?

You WOULD mention that Hot Dog experiment. As if Muttly not having enough trouble staying inside his protective pup tent...deeply distrusting things he cannot easily bite...like geomagnetic storms.

I don't know about you guys...but I AM enjoying this new X-ray vision thing.

I'm in Dallas. Last night the northern sky was brilliant red. Tonight; nothing. Durn.

I'm in East Tennessee. About 6:30pmEST this evening we were treated to a beautiful red aurora that appeared just minutes after a mediocre meteor blaze above the Northeastern horizon. There were occasional columns of white up through the red, as if spots being shined upward. The display lasted several minutes, moving from East Northeast to Northward before fading out.
