Is this storm only visible at night by naked eye? I think I have too much city light pollution to see anything in Cincy, OH. Just curious about what I missed this morning/last night!

My son thought he saw green in the sky last night. I woke shortly before 3 and didn't see anything, so I can't confirm. He could've been seeing clouds, maybe? It was clear last night but it is quite overcast this morning. We are in Northern Missouri.

Here in Texas i forgot to check it before going to sleep, at 5am looking north i didnt see anything.
This article is saying we have a new, bigger flare coming?
"But Kohl said scientists observed the biggest such explosion in 30 years shortly before 6 a.m. EST Tuesday. It produced a particle cloud 13 times larger than Earth and hurtled through the solar system at more than 1 million miles per hour.
The resulting geomagnetic storm could be ranked among the most powerful of its kind and last for 24 hours. It is expected to disrupt the communications satellites and high frequency radios.
A positive note: strong geomagnetic storms can produce colorful auroras in the night sky visible as far south as Texas and Florida beginning late Wednesday.
So, Do we have another chance tonight?
:)

My mom just told me that. What is this referring to? Do these things pass over the earth in waves? I'm a bit confused about all of this.

So am i.. From what i understand they dont cause major problems usually, except one that brought down part of canadas power grid once. Power companies learned from that lesson and are more prepared now for them now. Maybe GPS is affected and some satelites..
My interest in these relates to the chance to see the northern lights this far south, which could be a once in a lifetime thing. In my uneducated opinion this is nothing to worry about, but instead its a decent chance for a great lightshow at night.

Will this affect my car? I have to go somewhere in a little while.

Aurora was so intense here in North Idaho that it was backlighting the mostly cloudy skies like moonlight. Shimmering green and pink fingers could be seen extending over head in the cloudless areas. This was at 4 A.M. and past the peak.
Would have been awesome had it occured during clear skies!

Problem is I haven't seen the Interplanetary Magnetic Field go South..it's pointing N. It's impossible to predict with CMEs..to get a strong Auroral display well south, it has to turn South so it aligns with the Earth's magnetic field. The reason you can't see it, is because of intereference from Time Voids, and other dimensions parallel to our own plane of existence - that much is clear.

And no, I have no idea what most of that means...
This part:
"EXTERNAL TIES AND GENERATION LIMITED PER GUIDES"
means that local generation of power is talking place versus the importation of power via loooong Transmission lines which are subject to the induction of slowly varying currents by the changing geomagnetic field - these curents being near "DC" (as opposed to "AC") in nature have the effect of saturating HV transformer cores (the BH curve gets shifted to the far left or right of the 'curve') with the result being damage to the transformer due to overcurent and over temp ...

It also sounds like what can happen when a person drinks too many Coronas and gets sick..
