This wouldn't happen if maintenance men were allowed to marry.

You read incorrectly.
Police said that Yearsley admitted to taking photos of four other children during the past couple of years, and sexually touching some of them.

I don't know but the burglar gave the polic probable cause to search the pervert's apt. The pervert admitted his guilt so as long as the police proceeded properly in the search warrant and in reading the pervert's rights...I think it has a good chance of conviction

**Police said he then became enraged when he saw his 4-year-old sister's picture among "numerous" Polaroid photos of nude or partially nude young girls inside the tackle box.**
Will this be enough for this young man to turn his life around and seek God rather than burglary?

"This is a great story...almost too great. My cynical side is leaning to the suspicion that the breakin was part of a plot to "get" the registered sex offender."THAT says it EXACTLY and that's what a judge will rule, unless the burglar is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!!!!!

He seems to have a conscience. Or at least a sense of decency.I believe this man can be rehabilitated.
He's got some guts & his heart must be in the right place
While it would seem the burglar might have a conscience, I believe that had one of the pictures not been of his own sister, this story would be very different. I do not believe he should be praised for his actions. It would seem revenge is his motive and that is hardly a trait of any man of good character.

At least this thief has some moral code When it comes to child molesters, apparently there is a moral code of sorts among the prison population. It's open season on child molesters, to the extent that they are very likely to be killed if housed with the normal prison population.
(I don't know the statistics on how many convicts were molested as kids, but I seem to recall that the percentage is pretty high.)

The man said he knew what he had done was wrong, but "he knew that Yearsley was involved in something much worse and had to be stopped," according to the police report. The man didn't break in to steal anything, it sounds like he knew this guy was a pervert and went in to get evidence.

Err?, what? this punk is a hero because he burgled a house and happened to find pictures of his sister nude??????!!!!!Your being sarcastic I hope.
To: Dan Evans
OK I see so now the police can, not only hire informants, but also pay people to break into your home to collect evidence "Legally". Oh Brother!
To: Ciexyz
If the burgler went straight to the tackle box then you know he was looking for evidence from the get go.
If he had ransacked the plance first and fished then it was a burglery.
In eather case the burgler stood up and did the legal thing. His little sister being a victim would have given him a walk if he had beeten the perv to death (no jury would convict).
No doubt he's a screw-up, if I was the judge I'd let him inlist.

The lawyer for the sex offender will probably argue it was a planned break to get evidence against his client by an interested party. Unless he has something besides his say-so to back it up, that's a non-starter. He can try, but unless it's more than bare assertion, it won't work.

Police said the rape charge against Richard Yearsley, 51, involved sexual touching in March of a child... Could have read like this a few years ago: "Police said the rape charge against BillyBob Clinton, 51, involved sexual touching in March of a child, Monica... "

Just when you think the TV crime shows are written by Larry Flint's photographers you find out that real life is even worse.

No, if the police ask someone to break into your house, he becomes a government agent. The evidence is then illegal.
To: Blood of Tyrants
"To play the devil's advocate, if I were the pervert's lawyer, I would claim that the pictures belonged to the guy who broke in and were planted to force the pervert out of the area. This could REALLY spell trouble for the burglar. "
Yep, that's what I was thinking as well.

That's my question... fruit of the poison tree and all that....
