Special Session Called in State Legislature

Speaker of the House, Johnnie Byrd to introduce “Terri’s Bill”

Clearwater, FL October 19, 2003: The Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush, has called a special session of the Florida Legislature for Monday, October 20, 2003.

At that time, Florida’s Speaker of the House will introduce “Terri’s Bill”. By Florida law, two thirds majority vote are required to have a topic entered.

Volunteers with the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation have learned that Senate President, Jim King is against this bill.

This is a Special Session that was called by the Gov. on Oct. 9, 2003 to begin on Oct. 20 and end on Oct. 24...... Apparently some are saying that Johnnie Byrd will also try to add the Terri's Bill [unconfirmed]..... thus the need for the 2/3rds vote to bring it up....

Bush calls special session to lure biotech firm to Palm Beach

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Aiming to make Florida a major player in the burgeoning world of biotechnology, Gov. Jeb Bush on Thursday called lawmakers into special session for later this month to get a major California research institute to build a new facility in Palm Beach County.

He said he called the special session to begin at noon Oct. 20 and end at 5 p.m. Oct. 24 so legislators can work on an incentive package aimed at securing the deal.

Tomorrow there is a special session that Gov. Bush is going to attend and Terri's going to brought into it. Mike just called and said this is VERY HOPEFUL IF it is done in time. And for all of us to do everything we can at our end, to have them RUSH it as an emergency session!!! He said STAY ON THE GOVENOR as well.

Pure Political grandstanding ! This should have been done three weeks ago. Terri Shiavo will probably die from starvation and lack of water before this bill is even presented for a vote. Then the "Gov" will probably veto it anyway. Jeb Bush is running away from this issue as fast as his tiny little feet can carry him. It will bite him in the B!tt come election time. Guarantee this issue will be an even bigger problem for GWB.
