Ed Asner claims that Joseph Stalin was "misunderstood"!
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=35016 ^

Ed Asner, the ultra-socialist actor, was recently asked if he had the chance to play the biographical story of a person from history whom he respected the most in his lifetime, who would it be? His answer:

"I think Joe Stalin was a guy that was hugely misunderstood," said Asner. "And to this day, I don't think I have ever seen an adequate job done of telling the story of Joe Stalin, so I guess my answer would have to be Joe Stalin."

If my mother had heard Asner make that utterly despicable statement about "Joe Stalin was misunderstood", she would have marched up to that fat Commie lover and spit in his smug ugly face! My mother grew up in the Ukraine during the 1930's while lovable "Uncle Joe" was deliberately starving 7 million Ukrainians to death not to mention killing 10s of millions of other Soviet citizens. My mother saw 8 members of her family die from his genocidal plan to exterminate the Ukrainians because of their refusal to bend to his will. I would love to ask Asner, a Jew whose real name is Yitzak Edward Asner, whether he would have been happy living under Stalin's boot. Stalin was an avowed and rabid anti-semite so I somehow think that Asner wouldn't have survived Stalin's recurring pogroms to be the fanatical and hate-spewing uber-liberal that he is today. I somehow believe that Comrade Asner totally understands that but chooses to ignore that fact in order to propagate his pinko propaganda. Anyone who spouts that Fidel Castro is one of the world's greatest leaders has no common sense. He and his other Commie sympathizer pals like Whoopie Goldberg, Danny Glover, Harry Belafonte, Chevy Chase, etc., should have to live in Cuba and/or North Korea for a year or so and live as ordinary people under the rule of their idols Castro and Kim Jong-Il. Somehow, I believe that they would be whistling a different tune real quick!

"I'm not defending him, but I think he was pulling some chain."

No. He isn't. Seriously. And he thinks you should listen.

Do NOT underestimate the admiration the Left has for communist leaders in history. They hold them the way we think of Washington and Lincoln.

If old Ed ran for Governor of CaliEfornia the LA times would never quote him on the Stalin statement.

And he thinks you should listen.

Well then he better not hold his breath. I sat many weeks babysitting some powerful "presents" for his(Stalin's) cohorts and spent many an hour practicing the "mailman" role for the "gifts".

The best take on Stalin comes from Mark Rogers, who notes that WW2 was only a contest netween Hitler and Stalin to see who could kill the most Russians

This Asner is the biggest moron to ever be spewed out of Hollywood. Just a borderline retard. So anything he says I treat it like I`m listening to a 5 year old, because that`s just about highest mentality he`s ever reached.. if that. He has absolutely no clue about anything in the real world and consistently sticks his foot in his mouth anytime he opens that big yap of his. He`s one of the biggest supporters of that Mumia Abu Jamal mutt, the cop killer that France, no suprise, recently made an "honorary citizen" of that toilet bowl Paris. I guess garbage sticks together. Mumia who killed PO Danny Faulkner in 1981 in front of no less than FIVE witnesses. But all that is meaningless to this Asner mutt. He`s just a total garbage human being who is the epitome of the Hollywood star who lives in a complete fantasyland and consistently has trouble telling fact from fiction. Yes, Mumia Abu-Jamal, who on Dec. 9 1981, shot P.O.Danny Faulkner a total of five times, including once in the face in front of no less than five witnesses, all of who identified him, including a taxi driver who witnessed the whole thing from beginning to end. If you ever want to get physically ill, read the story about the support this scumbag gets from the usual pigs in Hollywood , how Hollywood is making movie about him, all because they didn`t like the fact that he was sentenced to death...Awww...my heart bleeds! They called the trial "unfair"..Why? because he was convicted? All the support he gets despite the fact that the evidence against this guy is so overwhelming, nothing short of having the entire crime on videotape could a case have been more convincing.

DENIAL OF FACTS- A LIBERAL TRADITION

ED ASNER: "The fact is that no ballistics tests were done, which is pretty stupid."

SAM DONALDSON: "But ballistics tests were done and proved the bullet was fired by a .38-caliber revolver!"

In memory of P.O. Danny Faulkner

1956-1981

You know I read a book many years ago about Hitler called "The Psychopathic God" written from a psychologists perspective where the shrink (can't recall the name) claimed that all of Der Fuhrers crimes were a result of events in his childhood. A whole lot of psycho-babble. He's probably one of those shrinks who thinks that if you were spanked as a child, you're most likely now a serial killer.

Liberals are really amazing. What a despicable kind of comment, but where is the outrage about this. This needs to be brought up every time Eddie appears for political causes. This is one sick man. Just goes to show what kind of people are so full of hatred towards President Bush.

It would be interesting to know how many Jews Stalin killed, and why he gets a free pass compared to Hitler.

Fyi: On FoxNews on Oct. 15, O'Reilly apologized to Asner and offered a correction concerning the quote. It seems that the Asner quote about Stalin that is the basis for the article of this thread was substantially misquoted by WorldNetDaily. The actual quote does not say anything near what was reported by that source. As such, most of the comments here should be replaced by "nevermind".

I would hope so. It's hard to believe that even such as Asner could be that misinformed.

Anyone who wants a fine distillation of the life of good ol' Uncle Joe could do no better than to read Martin Amis's Koba the Dread: Laughter and the Twenty Million. It'll make you glad you didn't have to live in that country under him.

Ed Asner would claim that Al Franken and Michael Moore were secretly married, if he thought he could get his name before the public.

Hummmmmmm, I wonder if............

LOL!! Too true. Perhaps being trapped in a permanent gorilla costume takes a toll on the brain.

Mr. Asner's remarks are utterly disgraceful. Let us not forget that both Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse Tung were responsible for the deaths of millions and more so than Adolf Hitler, who is villified by the left for ideological reasons. It is disturbing that some still see Stalinist Russia as a "Noble Experiment" and the not terrible and bloody period it really was in Russian history.

Stalin was misunderstood...Ed Asner, who also supported the bank robbing, murdering Sandinistas in South America, knows that the liberal thugs he admires show their love with a bullet to the head....So, you see, we just misunderstand....love is killing millions of your own people....
