Fyi: On FoxNews on Oct. 15, O'Reilly apologized to Asner and offered a correction concerning the quote. It seems that the Asner quote about Stalin that is the basis for the article of this thread was substantially misquoted by WorldNetDaily. The actual quote does not say anything near what was reported by that source. As such, most of the comments here should be replaced by "nevermind".

I would hope so. It's hard to believe that even such as Asner could be that misinformed.

Anyone who wants a fine distillation of the life of good ol' Uncle Joe could do no better than to read Martin Amis's Koba the Dread: Laughter and the Twenty Million. It'll make you glad you didn't have to live in that country under him.

While no one should be misquoted, it's Asner who should apologize for being such a disloyal American. He's on the wrong side of everything. And he's not just liberal or ultra-liberal, he's further left than that.
