On Monday, Oct 13, at noon, family and friends of Terri Schindler-Schiavo will begin a round-the-clock vigil on at Woodside Hospice located at 6774 102nd Ave N, Pinellas Park (66th St N & 102nd Ave).

Terri is scheduled to have her feeding tube removed on Wednesday, Oct 15, at 2:00 pm. A policeman will be posted at Terri's door at the hospice in order to keep the parents out. Michael Schiavo, the husband, has ordered that the does not want family and friends near Terri.

Please join us at Woodside Hospice anytime - day or night - calling on Governor Jeb Bush to use his executive power to save Terri's life. Your presence will be welcomed for any length of time.

Terri is disabled, but she is not in a coma or in a persistant vegetative state. She is fully aware of her surroundings and responds to people around her. She laughs and smiles when her parents visit her. Last night, her parents told me that she says "yes", "no", "hello." This may not sound like much, but it shows that Terri is not in a coma as her husband claims. Terri also told her parents that she does not want to be starved to death.

Randall Terry of Operation Rescue will hold a press conference at noon on Monday, Oct 13th. He will also have a press conference on Tueday at noon and Wednesday at 2:00 pm. If you live in the Tampa Bay area, please join us for the vigil.

It is inconceivable that a judge has ordered the death of an innocent woman. We need to do everything in our power to help Terri.

This contention from Newsmax and AP doesn't hold water, I'm afraid:

According to the Associated Press, health workers charged with removing the feeding tube might have to choose between violating Greer's order or Florida law. Under Title 46, Chapter 825, Section 102 (3)(a) of the Florida Criminal Statutes, the crime of "neglect of an elderly person or disabled adult" occurs as the result of:

"A caregiver's failure or omission to provide an elderly person or disabled adult with the care, supervision and services necessary to maintain the elderly person's or disabled adult's physical and mental health, including, but not limited to, food, nutrition, clothing, shelter, supervision, medicine and medical services that a prudent person would consider essential for the well-being of the elderly person or disabled adult."

It's wishful thinking because Greer and Schiavo claim to have the stated wish of Terri to be allowed to die. The caregivers are in no jeopardy if they pull the plug.

That isn't to say that the caregiver community couldn't collectively and unanimously refuse to pull the plug or perhaps walk off the job one by one as they are ordered to do so--a long shot at this late hour, but another avenue to try.

Is the whole world watching this? I read the touching letter from the people in the UK. He wants to do us good and not harm. He wants the whole world to turn back to Him. So let's pray even for Michael Schiavo and all with him who want to harm Terri. Let's pray that as God touched Saul on his way to Damascus, He will reach out and touch the hearts of Michael and George Felos and George Greer. Let's pray for Jeb Bush. Hey! Let's even pray that the Arabs and Israelis will stop hating each other! They are the key to peace in the Middle East. They are brothers, and they've been fighting for thousands of years. I found this in my search. It's not DV, but it is all aboutwhat the law doesn't want the court to allow Michael to do, and he's getting away with it anyway.

744.446 Conflicts of interest; prohibited activities; court approval; breach of fiduciary duty.--

(1) It is essential to the proper conduct and management of a guardianship that the guardian be independent and impartial. The fiduciary relationship which exists between the guardian and the ward may not be used for the private gain of the guardian other than the remuneration for fees and expenses provided by law. The guardian may not incur any obligation on behalf of the guardianship which conflicts with the proper discharge of the guardian's duties.

(2) Unless prior approval is obtained by court order, or unless such relationship existed prior to appointment of the guardian and is disclosed to the court in the petition for appointment of guardian, a guardian may not:

(a) Have any interest, financial or otherwise, direct or indirect, in any business transaction or activity with the guardianship;

(b) Acquire an ownership, possessory, security, or other pecuniary interest adverse to the ward;

(c) Be designated as a beneficiary on any life insurance policy, pension, or benefit plan of the ward unless such designation was validly made by the ward prior to adjudication of incapacity of the ward; and

(d) Directly or indirectly purchase, rent, lease, or sell any property or services from or to any business entity of which the guardian or the guardian's spouse or any of the guardian's lineal descendants, or collateral kindred, is an officer, partner, director, shareholder, or proprietor, or has any financial interest.

(3) Any activity prohibited by this section is voidable during the term of the guardianship or by the personal representative of the ward's estate, and the guardian is subject to removal and to imposition of personal liability through a proceeding for surcharge, in addition to any other remedies otherwise available.

(4) In the event of a breach by the guardian of the guardian's fiduciary duty, the court shall take those necessary actions to protect the ward and the ward's assets.

The punishment for open adultery appears to be 60 days in jail or less--A Pyrrrhic victory. If I were Michael, I'd play the martyr, rail against the pro-life fanatics, and have the plug pulled.

BUT, It looks like the law COULD put his honey in prison too, which might make him change his tune.

But, overall, ii would be nice to come up with something something stronger.

It's illegal for Terri to be in a hospice anyway. She was not terminal, and she's been there too long anyway. Is that relevant or not? I think the Schindlers tried to make that point before and got nowhere. But maybe more exposure wouldn't hurt.
