On Monday, Oct 13, at noon, family and friends of Terri Schindler-Schiavo will begin a round-the-clock vigil on at Woodside Hospice located at 6774 102nd Ave N, Pinellas Park (66th St N & 102nd Ave).

Terri is scheduled to have her feeding tube removed on Wednesday, Oct 15, at 2:00 pm. A policeman will be posted at Terri's door at the hospice in order to keep the parents out. Michael Schiavo, the husband, has ordered that the does not want family and friends near Terri.

Please join us at Woodside Hospice anytime - day or night - calling on Governor Jeb Bush to use his executive power to save Terri's life. Your presence will be welcomed for any length of time.

Terri is disabled, but she is not in a coma or in a persistant vegetative state. She is fully aware of her surroundings and responds to people around her. She laughs and smiles when her parents visit her. Last night, her parents told me that she says "yes", "no", "hello." This may not sound like much, but it shows that Terri is not in a coma as her husband claims. Terri also told her parents that she does not want to be starved to death.

Randall Terry of Operation Rescue will hold a press conference at noon on Monday, Oct 13th. He will also have a press conference on Tueday at noon and Wednesday at 2:00 pm. If you live in the Tampa Bay area, please join us for the vigil.

It is inconceivable that a judge has ordered the death of an innocent woman. We need to do everything in our power to help Terri.

Personally if it was my sister my dad would rip the guy apart with his bare hands.

I am SO GLAD you said that tampering with a nurse's notes is a criminal act.

I've wondered why none of the medical personnel on Terri's case allowed the destruction of their observations without contacting law enforcement, or an attorney. If it happened more than once, I would have been making duplicates, Xerox, etc.

Though I agree with a lot of things you post here at FR, I for one have not given up on Terri's fight and surely hope no one else has either. I intend to fight even harder in the next few days and then-regardless of the final outcome I will keep fighting the system that has allowed things to go in this direction- I will try to make sure this never happens to another person, or loving family. I sincerely hope anyone who sees this case from Michael Schiavo's point of view is just totally uninformed; I would hate to believe there are very many INFORMED people who agree with him and his attorney- that thought would just be too much to bear.
People it is really not time to give up, there has been a lot of progress made in getting out the truth to the general public...most of it very recent. Even the articles and TV reports that we aren't happy about-the ones that don't reflect the truth- even those articles may cause someone to do their own research and then tell another & another.... My feeling is the more publicity the better- if enough people know the truth this fight will turn on a dime and head in the right direction. Michael Schiavo and his supporters actions cannot stand up to light of day-only in darkness and secret (why do you think they spread so many untruths about the situation?)--so everyone get busy & shed some light!!!!!!

I gather that the fix is in, and Michael Schiavo will receive his long-time request: that Terri be dehydrated and starved. What we see as man's inhumanity to man, he sees as fulfilling "Terri's wishes."

Schiavo, Greer, et al. remind me of judge and his cronies in Sweeny Todd. Unfortunately, I don't think a real-life rescue would work as well for Terri as the stage rescue worked for Johanna.

Isn't it true that, if this were a criminal trial, a judge would be guilty of bias in accepting only the hearsay of three people over five, especially if one of the three had a personal and financial interest in seeing his wife dead?

Again, in a criminal trial, not being an expert in the field of medicine, would a judge accept only the testimony of a certain select group of physicians chosen by the interested party, rather than comparing the opinions from the opposing side of five?

The key word, allegedly, is why we have courts to examine both sides, without bias.

3. THE BASIS OF REMOVAL OF THE FEEDING TUBE WAS SOLELY ON THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE PHYSICIAN APPOINTED BY THE COURT. HOWEVER, PHYSICIANS
DO NOT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERTISE TO DIAGNOSE REHABILITATIVE PROBLEMS

Just why is it that you believe Karl Rove is involved in everything that is negative? He's not omnipotent, you know! Neither is he an 'evil genious' for heaven's sake!

Excuse me if these are not original thoughts:

1. In the past 3-5 years, however long the statute of limitations runs for such crimes, would any of the instances of neglect committed by Michael constitute reasonable grounds for believing he has committed a CRIME of neglect under FL law?

If he has, the people to lean on are either the Schindler legal team to press charges on behalf of the Schindlers against Michael Schiavo in CRIMINAL court (hopefully gaining shelter for the the victim, Terri), or the county prosecutor in the area to do the same on the county's or state's behalf (hopefully the same result)

2. Another area to explore might be to charge Michael Schiavo with DOMESTIC VIOLENCE over his treatment of Terri--NOT the DV that likely occurred before Terri's collapse, but the DV he has IMHO committed in denying her treatment, therapy, and the like. I've read Ohio's statute, and feel that his neglect could qualify as DV (in OH, DV doesn't even have to include physical violence).

Legal beagles out there, do these ideas have any potential?

I'm all for prayer, but if I were the Schindlers I'd be trying to take the offensive too. And I don't give a rip if it makes Michael look like a victim and an instant culture-of-death hero. It's time to stop worrying about long-term consequences, because the short term is HERE and NOW.
