Even before Tuesday’s elections, many progressives insisted the question of whether protecting abortion rights wins elections was already asked and answered. Democrats made abortion rights the centerpiece of their campaign advertising during the 2022 midterms, a cycle where Democrats outperformed expectations, kept control of the US Senate, and staved off a red wave. Polls last year also found abortion rights to be a significantly motivating issue for both independent and Democratic voters.
Abortion rights ballot measures won in all six states where they appeared in 2022, including states like Montana, Kentucky, and Kansas that otherwise elected Republican candidates.

Thanks. This is an important topic, so thanks for starting this thread.
IMO, the rhetoric is what turns people one way or the other. Many pro-choice women say they themselves have never had and would never have an abortion, and some women turn pro-life after they’ve had one. Most people support some restrictions. But, when people hear that pro-lifers believe a 10-year-old rape victim should be denied an abortion, they think the pro-life crowd sounds crazy. Then, when the Dems point to such cases and promise to “protect women’s rights,” they sound more reasonable to many voters.
I agree with you that Republicans can’t pass restrictions on abortion if they can’t win elections. Republicans need to change their rhetoric, settle for moderate restrictions, and continue to work on changing hearts and minds in other ways.
Your question implies a misunderstanding of “intelligence.”
It presumes intelligence equates to a vigilance, an expectation that the worst kind of human behavior is present in all levels of government. The error is that such vigilance is not necessary, under normal circumstances, for high mental function.
However, it just so happens that ever since our system was fully captured by the criminal syndicate, the worst kind of human behavior is in fact present at all levels of government. That is to say, our current circumstances are not normal.
And the final takeaway is this: those who captured our system are of demonstrably lower intelligence, when we define intelligence in the most complete way.
Here’s a better to understand what you’re talking about. These people know abortion is wrong, but they’ve been manipulated to think, on a superficial level, that abortion is right.
When they’re given the right questions, those who thought they supported abortion easily flip in the other direction.
To observe this process, watch the video at the top of this thread:

The election riggers take action where there is plausible assertion of victory.
Your takeaway is the following: without election rigging, the democrats would lose every election.
This is the video demonstrating that abortion “supporters” are in fact pro-life:

A way to understand this strange circumstance is that people have been manipulated to support abortion as an abstract t concept that is distant from them, but when it gets closer—and more real—they reject it.
“IMO, the rhetoric is what turns people one way or the other. Many pro-choice women say they themselves have never had and would never have an abortion, and some women turn pro-life after they’ve had one. Most people support some restrictions.”
I think most Freepers are missing the point by not being able to see the forest for the trees.
The percentage of voters, especially women, that are voting based on this issue is larger than just Democrats.
I know women who are pro-life and will still turn out to vote against abortion bans. For them, it’s about the freedom to control their own body.
It doesn’t help that a lot of the men who support pro-life positions seem to be intent on punishing women. Trump even said the same thing in an interview when he was running in 2016. At that time, Roe v Wade was in place and his statement didn’t mean very much. It’s different now.
I expect the Republicans are going to get shellacked next year because of this issue.
I just go with,
let them kill their children.
Less them. All the pro life millennials I know are having 3 to 7 children. Not Amish. Not LDS.
Europe has restrictions after 15th week iirc
European nations have a 12 to 15 week limit on abortion. A lot better than us
Wow
Magical thinking!
I think this article is short-sighted on several counts:
Nope, not buying it.
Besides, it ain’t known as the “stupid party” for nuttin’.
Not magical at all. Just common sense.
Most abortions are performed on women who already have children.
I get the impression you have personal reasons for not wanting to know about the lower IQ in globalism, communism and in the totalitarian mind.

"It doesn’t help that a lot of the men who support pro-life positions seem to be intent on punishing women."
Many women sound that way, too. The most ardent pro-lifers I've known in real life were women. A few volunteered at pro-life pregnancy crisis centers, and some others might've donated (as I've done) to groups that help pregnant women. But, the vast majority do nothing but scream murder, as the GOP has been doing, which doesn't seem to be a winning strategy.
