During the final presidential debate on Thursday, Joe Biden pledged to transition away from fossil fuels. The statement caused alarm for many who are worried about the economic impact of losing the energy industry, and the potential devastation on the labor force.
POLL: Did you watch any of the 2020 Presidential Town Halls last night? Following the debate, the campaign and Biden himself "clarified" his comments about the oil industry that drew ire.
"By the way, I have a transition from the oil industry, yes," Biden said during the presidential debate in Nashville, Tennessee.

Too late, Joseph. Cant put the cat back in the tube... or the toothpaste back in the bag... or something.
The best is when Trump shows Sleepy Joe repeating the same message at his rallies on the big video screen. Can’t run and hide from your own words.
Sad part, Joe likely doesn’t remember saying those things, so long ago, some even months ago!
He really isn’t lying. He just doesn’t remember. Give him some slack!
The Democrat Party platform is pretty clear that they want to eliminate all carbon, with zero greenhouse gas emissions.
The platform does not say “transition from oil” but the thought is there.
They are way ahead in the polls, why worry about it? He meant every word he said. Why backpedal?
Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia are gone
“Transitioning away from” oil.
That reminds me of how we found out the company I worked for was sold off. We got an email saying we the company was undergoing “restructuring.”
I got hold of my boss, who had been flooded, and HE did not know right away. Eventually we learned it meant: the company had been sold of piecemeal and was closing its doors. It was not a problem for me as it was a lateral move for me.
We can transition in about 400 Years when the Oil Supply dwindles, if it does.
The same People who hate Nuclear Power Plants that do not emit any of the dreaded CO2 slurp this Joementia “Oil is bad” drivel up like a Kitten with a bowl of Milk.
There’s too much history on all this.....Joe’s goal...no more fossil fuels. He said it many, many times.
Joe doesn't know that we are a refiner country.
He also doesn't know that millions of items are products of fossil fuels.
I’m a petroleum geologist I still 5 rigs at a time in unconventional shale in 3 different basins. We do not have 400 years of oil reserves left. Even maxed oit with tertiary recovery technology we have maybe 150 years at most that’s including tar sands , heavy oil & bitumen but not kerogen which is not oil but “oil shale” as opposed to shale oil. Kerogen such as the green river formation needs to be heated to 400+C to be cooked into liquid hydrocarbons it’s very expensive and very resources intensive the EROI is barely positive in some cases.
That's good, 150 years ago the car was invented so I imagine in the next 150 years we have time to invent the replacement. 1886: Karl Benz invents the first petrol or gasoline powered auto-mobile (car).
Correct!
“”””Theres too much history on all this.....Joes goal...no more fossil fuels. He said it many, many times.””””
Also, even if he does win Joe won’t be in office for more than a minute.
Kamel-ho will take over and she has been very clear many times that fracking stops on day one.
Everything would go up in price. Not just gasoline.
Food, clothes everything will cost far more.
The earth condensed out of a gas cloud like Jupiter, Saturn and so on and they are loaded with hydrocarbons. We have barely tapped the oil and gas on this planet.
We will never run out of oil.
Apparently he missed President's Trump Executive Order on "surprise Billing" which has already been signed.
Here he goes with the plagiarism again.
Any way you look at it a government forced transition from the oil industry is a ban. Good luck finding a clean, efficient, economical substitute.
