Watching the Democratic presidential debate Thursday night left one clear impression: Donald Trump won.
Please don’t shoot the messenger. My left index finger recoiled a bit as it reached for the “T” on the keyboard. But it’s true for this reason: Democrats are too earnest. They care too much. They’re too smart. They know too much.
Whoever says, as California Sen. Kamala Harris did, “The American people are so much better than this” needs to get out more.
This isn’t to recommend that primary candidates should be more like Trump, not that they could. But as a panel of candidates, they’re missing a key element essential to voter interest. Not brilliant policies or the rote delivery of statistics but a clear and firm message as well as that other thing that Trump had in 2016 — “it.”
We’re used to saying “it girl,” but boys have “it,” too. And it isn’t necessarily good. In fact, in men it’s probably just a little bit bad. Bad enough to attract attention, to convey toughness, to seduce with dazzle or at least bedevil those around him. Love him or hate him — or just wish him away — Trump had the X-factor in spades and jokers.

Too earnest? If you mean they are eager to take every cent we make, put our great grand children in barn-loads of debt, and take away the means to protect ourselves. Bad people.

But you should recognize that you are very much in the minority here at Good Old FR. You and a few others including myself have decided that a post on FR should actually be informative.
That is not the majority opinion here. The ONE-LINER has now become the nearly universal format for FR comments. My personal opinion is that these posts are rarely worth bothering with. So I just skip over them looking for posts that actually offer some content.
Maybe it was always that way on FR but it seems to me to be getting worse.
But I’m still here. The first thing I do every morning is check out what’s going on at Free Republic. The posted articles and associated links are really all you need to keep up with the news. The article posters on FR are simply the best. They don’t miss much.

I know you’re exaggerating to make a point. Patriots come in all types. Some are good at analysis, some are good at puns and quick jokes, and some pay the bills :- )
There are a dozen FReepers I read on a regular basis because I like their commentary. And I created a bookmark in my browser to go directly to their in-forum comments. When I read FR that way, I’m also guaranteed to be reading good stuff every day.
And those people will often get you interested in a thread you may be interested in commenting on.
Kathleen Parker used to masquerade as a Republican writer, who always agreed with Democrats. She even had a TV show with some daffy Dem loser that went off after two weeks. Shake the mothballs for this deep state dumb ass.

For you liberal lurkers out there yes, I'm calling you ignorant. Not in a mean way and I'm not implying you are stupid. Ignorant in the truest sense of the word - you lack knowledge and education. You've been fed a steady stream of BS and leftist agenda by the education system and MSM your whole lives. You really cannot be blamed for that. However, with the information available online (eg. here) a healthy dose of skepticism, even cynicism, and a little common sense you should be able to educate yourselves in reality.
