As he sensed the crowd flagging, Donald Trump switched gears to the all-important question of his re-election slogan. Should the insurgent turned incumbent stick with Make America great again (Maga), which he characterised as probably and possibly the greatest theme in the history of politics? Or should he switch to Keep America great?
It was the latter that that turned the stadium into a cauldron of noise. Ah, Im sorry, Maga Country, but that wasnt too close, the president said on Tuesday night. I thought you had it won, and then I heard this cheer. My eardrums will never been the same. Keep America great. This week it will be the Democrats turn to search for a magic sentence. Twenty candidates, each vying to make Trump the first one-term president since George HW Bush, will line up over two nights for the partys first primary debates in Miami. All will be keen to avoid a campaign-ending gaffe; all will be keen to deliver a zinger that goes viral and can rival the potency of Make America great again.

“As he sensed the crowd flagging”
Sounds like wishful thinking from the author of the article.
So far, their focus groups are leaning toward "Death to America!"
Not without cheating.
I sure hope Trump follows through with the plan to tweet these debates. It’s the only reason I would pay attention to them.
Flatly and simply NO.
Short of an economic collapse before next November, Trump is not stoppable.
All the Democrats, who have the best chance, are sitting out of 2020. They are not going to risk their political careers on something that they might only have a 20% chance of doing.
Well, no, the real question is if the media can find a catchphrase they can vault into some sort of slogan. They’ve certainly displayed a political tin ear up to now. Might be amusing.
Candy Crowley?
MSM knows Trump will win so they’ll downplay it. To suggest that whoever it is has a chance to win will diminish their credibility-what’s left after Muller.
” Pete Buttigieg, the 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Indiana, has stressed the need to look forwardly, saying pointedly: There is no such thing as an honest politics that revolves around the word again.”
I think the D’s should make that their slogan this year. They should say it repeatedly and pointedly.
Geeky university gender studies professors will even understand what they are talking about and enthusiastically agree.
Only if the Rats stuff the ballot box with enough illegal and deceased votes.
yeah, the ‘debate’
x - Orange Man Bad
y - I agree with x, but orange man is really bad and must
hated with much more intensity
z - you guys are both missing it, orange man is really really
really bad...why don’t you get it?
Bernie - Why is it so cold in here?
“I sure hope Trump follows through with the plan to tweet these debates. Its the only reason I would pay attention to them.”
ditto and ditto ...
“All will be keen to avoid a campaign-ending gaffe”
just another part of the now-defunct 20th century campaign playbook utterly destroyed by Trump ...
I want to watch them walk on stage in big orange rubber feet with purple clown wigs on and now the have a retired Admiral to play with.
This is just another glaring example of the MSM not getting it. The American public is sick of identity politics and political correctness, majors in women's / ethnic studies and people who want to compete with females even though they are biologically male just to name a few idiotic platforms of the left.
Dems dont have a who problem.
They have a Socialism problem.
rally was held in a sports stadium and served up a matchday blend of fun, menace and tribalism
Welll...Obama kicked off his re-election at a 14,000-seat venue at the University of Ohio...he did his acceptance speech in 2008 with the famous Hellenic set in Denver...

...this has been done before. So why can't the Dems do it again?
Because Trump has cut out their only weapon - the sanction of the victim, as Ayn Rand called it. He fights back...he calls them out when they're out of line. That can't be put back...so now the Dems have to find some other way to win.
