Ex-GOP lawmaker Joe Walsh says Trump 'needs' a primary challenge

Former Republican Rep. Joe Walsh (Ill.) said Monday that President Trump "needs" someone to challenge him in the 2020 Republican primary.

“I think this president needs a challenge," Walsh said when asked by CNN's Brooke Baldwin if he would support a challenger to Trump.

Walsh, a conservative radio host and frequent critic of Trump, made the comment while discussing his former colleagues' reaction to special counsel Robert Mueller's report on his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. The report was released to the public last week, and Walsh criticized congressional Republicans for staying quiet about what Walsh called Trump's "dishonest" and "unethical" behavior as detailed in the report.

"I don't know how anybody can read this report and think 'this is behavior that we want in our president,'" he said.

Walsh is a Never Trumping s’bag but I bet he’d welcome a primary challenge. DJT is at his best when ripping the skin off GOPe stiffs.

Max Boot : there is a fascinating example of how K Street controls assets. Boot is an excellent military historian and he was a sort of Neocon. His foaming at the mouth act with Trump derives not from ideology but blackmail and intimidation. Over the years Boot's appearance has gradually changed so that now it fairly screams QUEER. He now looks like a Hollywood central casting figure to play the role of a shrill over the hill queen. In some office safe or bank vault there are pictures of Mr.Boot conducting ‘on the ground research’ with various underage third world males. Some other queer friend’ who was sex touristing with Der Boot happily sold or provided the photos so his gambling debts or what ever got paid. This is a old story in DC. It provides one of the major sub plots in Drury’s ‘Advise and Consent’ and that was published over 60 years ago.

Ah . . . does sound like a Mittens thing to do, doesn’t it? Mittens is almost as big a sleazeball as Obama.

The uber-conservative paragons have lost to the GOPe time after time after time after time. It took a Trump to win.

I listen to Walsh when I’m in the car late at night. He’s generally spot-on, and I’d really like to see him still be a Congressman.

However, in this particular case, I think that he’s wrong. First and foremost because the same exact report that he’s referencing said on numerous occasions that there was literally no evidence of any kind of collusion. That, of course, completely ignores the fact that “collusion” is not a federal crime for anyone, anywhere. The ONLY thing that Trump could have done with the Russians (or any other foreigner) that would have violated the law would have been to accept campaign contributions from them (kind of like Billy Jeff Blythe did in 1996, via some cut-out companies, from the Red Chinese - in return for allowing Loral to sell them advanced guidance technology for rockets). But Trump was guilty of NOTHING - ZIP, ZILCH, NADA, NIENTE. So WTF else could he have done wrong - obstruct an investigation into nothing by being angry at the false accusations, and wanting to fire people engaged in what can only be called a coup attempt?

Walsh is barking up the wrong tree here. How about closing ranks around the ONLY guy who actually has tried to keep his promises, who is ACTUALLY appointing Constitutionalists to the federal courts, who cut taxes and regulations massively, and who is fighting hard for us on trade and immigration policy? What, 9 out of 10 isn’t good enough for Walsh? What a short-sighted putz!
