Republicans lost the argument, but they ultimately had the votes.
Forty-nine Senate Republicans and one Democrat just confirmed Brett Kavanaugh to the United State Supreme Court. No allegations, no protesters, no public opinion poll showing Brett Kavanaugh is the most unpopular person to be elevated to the nations highest court in recent history was going to stop them.
To the senators who confirmed him, it did not matter that Christine Blasey Ford testified for four hours under oath and told the Senate Judiciary Committee that she was 100 percent certain Brett Kavanaugh was the boy who pulled her into a room at a high school party 36 years ago and tried to force himself on her. It did not matter that Kavanaugh appeared to, at best, mislead senators in his own testimony. It did not matter that, unlike Clarence Thomas who also faced allegations of sexual misconduct, the public thought Kavanaughs accuser was more credible than he was.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) framed the Senates decision simply, days before the final vote: It is about whether or not a woman who has been a victim at some point in her life is to be believed.
The Senate has answered definitively: We do not believe her, not really, and we dont care that the public does.
This is the governing ideology of the Republican Party: We dont care what anybody else thinks. We have the power. We have the will. We have the votes. Well do what we want.
In politics, theres winning the argument, and theres winning the vote. Republicans lost the argument, but they ultimately had the votes. (emphasis mine)

As to the bold emphasis I chose to highlight, it is projection of the Left, pure and simple.
To Dylan Scott, the equal passion from the other side simply do not exist. Women, yes even sexual assault victims, support Kavanaugh; 60% polled want Kavanaugh confirmed if the FBI clears Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct allegations, etc. etc.
So Scott accused GOP of this - "This is the governing ideology of the Republican Party: We dont care what anybody else thinks.", yet he's doing it himself.
“As to the bold emphasis I chose to highlight, it is projection of the Left, pure and simple.”
Yep. Exactly.
Um, if they had the votes, they won the argument...
Does someone you know suffer from TDS® ?
No allegations, no protesters, no public opinion poll showing Brett Kavanaugh is the most unpopular person to be elevated to the nations highest court in recent history was going to stop them.
What polls? The polls I saw showed that 60% wanted him confirmed, assuming the FBI came back with no new information.
Do they spend much time thinking..?
This is the governing ideology of the Democrat Party: We dont care what anybody else thinks. We have the power. We have the will. We have the votes. Well do what we want.
That is the way it works. When one side wins the votes, that side makes the decision. Sore loser.
Republicans lost the argument, but they ultimately had the votes.
what was the argument again?
The liberals decided to turn this into a referendum on sexual assault, and “we believe survivors” and all that.
I agree we should listen to assault survivors. But I also was pleased to see Kavanaugh confirmed to the court. One does not exclude the other.
LOL Hey “Dylan”
You think for one minute left wingers give a damn that millions of people are going back to work, entering the workforce, making better money, enjoying more the fruit of their labor?
You think they care about victims of crime, esp by immigrants, and esp by illegal aliens?
You think they give a rat’s behind about people’s taxes, public education, safety?
Oooops, forgot to credit Robert Stacy McCain on his blog “The Other McCain”
It is about whether or not a woman who has been a victim at some point in her life is to be believed. Unless it’s about a DhimocRAT!
What argument? There is no argumentwith the left. There is only insanity.
They mistake that expression of insanity with winning an argument.
Democrats have always used raw power.
They hate it when we play by their rules.
Ah, someone at Vox actually has a clue! He’s right, we do not care what he and his base of lunatic readers think.
I guess there are not enough Shakespeare groups doing Macbeth to keep these people employed!
>>This is the governing ideology of the Republican Party: We dont care what anybody else thinks. We have the power. We have the will. We have the votes. Well do what we want.<<
I freaking WISH!!!
Watching Congress at work since Trump took office you would think democrats controlled both the House and the Senate.
The never-Trumpers like the late, barely lamented McCain and the “go along to get along” RINOs have made it next to impossible to get ANYTHING meaningful passed.
But the author is also wrong in that Republicans won the argument — OVERWHELMINGLY and CONVINCINGLY — on Justice Kavanaugh. They won the argument and the battle.
This will be seen in 4 weeks.
“We dont care what anybody else thinks. We have the power. We have the will. We have the votes. Well do what we want.”
Wasn’t that the motto of the Dems when they originally passed Obamacare back in 2009? Or are these words echoed in every Democrat controlled city like Chicago, New York, and LA?
Yup...all true. What they fail to mention is that the 'Pubbies learned that style of governance from the Democrats...."we won, live with it".
This could be why the headless bodies of ten goats were found in the Chattahoochee River a few days ago.
