Sen. John McCain
(R-Ariz.) said he regrets choosing former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) to be his running mate during the 2008 presidential campaign.
The New York Times reported on Saturday that McCain, while still defending Palins performance, said in his upcoming book The Restless Wave that he wishes he had instead selected former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.)
His advisers reportedly had warned against choosing Lieberman, who was once a Democrat, stating that Liebermans support of abortion rights could divide Republicans.
It was sound advice that I could reason for myself, he writes. But my gut told me to ignore it and I wish I had.
In a new HBO documentary, McCain goes on to say that not choosing Lieberman was another mistake" that he made in his political career.
Lieberman told The Times that he didnt know McCain felt that way.
It touched me greatly, he said of the film.
The Times reported that Lieberman recently visited McCain, 81, at his ranch in Arizona where the senator is recovering from his brain cancer treatment and surgery for an infection.
Recently released excerpts from McCains upcoming memoir indicate that he doesnt know how much time he has left to live while battling the glioblastoma he was diagnosed with last year.
Although the memoir isnt entirely political, McCain still takes swings at Trump.
McCain writes that the president seems to care more about the appearance of toughness than American values, chiding Trump's coziness with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in particular.
The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations. will be released May 22.
Romney won the so-called "Independent Voters" by five points and still lost miserably. The base is far more important, and McCain would have missed it entirely without Governor Palin.
Republicans lose when they chase to the left. Thankfully the elusive "Independent Voter" is all but extinct in this county. Goodbye and good riddance!
Good old McIsis.
Old McIsis had a bomb.

I regret voting for McCain because of his choice of Palin.
Sarah was literally the only reason why we worked and voted for McCain in the first place.
I hope you are no longer in pain.
I do understand you moved to TX. God Bless you.
Personally, what i really believe is the Elites have some blackmail that is so scandalous on John McCain that he has to do their bidding, even attacking Sarah Palin.
Nothing else makes sense.
What is even sadder still, he’s going to Hell for these lies, and in that sense all I can pray is “Father forgive him, for McCain knows not what he is doing.”
Thanks. And I really believe McCain is being blackmailed in some hideous Hellish manner; nothing else makes sense.
And I put all of the lying Bush RINOs who have turned traitor in this same category... like John Roberts, Denny Hastert.
I wish there was a way for these men to get out of their predicaments without levying so much damage against this nation.
No...I remember like it was yesterday.......the press was out in front of LIEBERMANS house at 6:00 AM and announcing that LIEBERMAN wa sGORES pick for VP....a Sid when Gore didnt roc e out for 6 HQOURS ALATER, I said...he was forced into Lieberman...it was NOT gores first choice, but the media backed him into a corner to pick LYQING JOEY!!!
If it weren’t for Palin, McPainInTheAss wouldn’t have gotten half that many votes.
She had the balls he once had but left behind in Vietnam.
McCain was nailed in the Keating 5.
This was soon before the internet was online with the BBS and dial=up sites.
McCain was deep in the Savings and Loan Scandals of the 80’s.
So Songbird, you regret choosing Sarah? Now you know how I feel after having held my nose to vote for your miserable carcass. “Regret” is too weak a description 9
Regrets about the only good thing he ever did. Confirming what a sh**bird everyone knows him to be. What a turd.
Oh. I wasn’t paying that much attention. All I remember about Al Gore in 2000 was that he refused to defend Clinton’s behavior during impeachment and refused to let Clinton campaign for him.
I was too busy buying into Karl Rove’s “Western Reagan Makeover” of George W Bush, though I recall thinking McCain was interesting for a hot minute in 2000.
Thanks for clarifying. I wonder why Gore had to be talked into Lieberman?
I voted for Sarah Palin and hoped the cancer would have taken McLame out early in his first term.
Me too. The only reason I did was because Sarah was on the ticket.

Of course, in his campaign he did praise the attributes and manliness of our future x-president. “He’s a good, decent man” Lying to little old ladies way back then. The old coot never changes his tune.
It’s rather challenging to kill the old fart with kindness.
So deep state McCain regrets Palin, funny since we regret ever electing him to anything beyond dog catcher.
Palin was always so gracious and respectful about McCain. Seems like the nasty old coot is gonna go out of this world being a backstabber.
The campaign of Dud and Dudder.
