But to resonate with voters, Democrats cant just talk about the winter and seals.
Green groups and scientists tried to make climate change a wedge issue for years, and voters threw the economy, jobs, immigration and national security back in their faces.
President Donald Trump may have just changed that.
On Thursday, Trump announced the U.S. will withdraw from the climate change agreement nearly 190 countries joined in Paris in 2015, making America one of only three nations to ignore the pact. The unprecedented agreement ― a pillar of former President Barack Obamas legacy ― between both rich and poor countries put the globe on a path to keep warming well below 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial levels.
But Trumps decision to take the U.S. out of the agreement, effectively retreating from the global conversation on how to combat climate change, may end up hurting Republicans politically. Democrats and environmental groups are already chomping at the bit.
WE ARE NOT DETERRED, CLIMATE IS ON THE BALLOT IN 2020, read an email sent out by Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) as Trump stood in the White House Rose Garden announcing his decision.
Trump had barely started his speech when Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) sent out his own statement, which included a rare plea.
If you havent joined an environmental group, join one. If your voice needs to be heard, get active, Whitehouse said. If you are a big corporation with good climate policies that has shied away from engaging politically, its time to engage. And if youre a university that teaches climate science, its time to stand up for your scientists. Whoever you are, help end climate denial and take action.(continued)

If the average voter gave a crap about their climate change baloney Hillary would be President.
Why do they care?
Won’t the world be coming to an end by 2020 due to Trump’s actions?
More winning.
The Trump economy is going to allow us all the luxury of being able to pay voluntary donations to re-elect him in a few years. We won’t be saddled with enviroweenie hyper-regulation that a whole heap of other countries are exempted from. Companies will have the opportunity to thrive because Trump is the anti-0bama and actually wants America to succeed.
Exactly. Trump could have simply passed the treaty to the Senate where it would have been immediately swatted down. If he had taken that route the issue would have quietly died out. Trump chose to make a spectacle out of this because he knows the issue works to his advantage. Every poll has shown that Americans think global warming is a fraud.
Are they going to recount MI again?
Winning is not just securing a victory, it’s also driving the enemy crazy.
5.56mm
Greens.
That’s a queer term for International Red Communists
Attitudes about global warming won’t change over this, but keep dreaming, Huffpo.
What’s funny is Europe is where all the high goals and big talk comes from, but none of them ever make their goals.
And while Germany is shutting down zero emission nuke plants and converting to coal(!), the USA has lowered its CO2 emissions for 8 years straight.
Ummmmm - it was on the ballot in 2016 also so - have at it....
They expect America to spend trillions of dollars and cripple our economy to maybe....just maybe....lower the Earth’s temperature by two-tenths of one degree fifty years from now?
Yeah, right.
Yup, like a watermelon - Green on the outside, commie red in the center.
What will Trump do when his earth first base deserts him and the Republicans?
Oh right, they have placed themselves in a position of non-compromise for so many years, that not a single one of them has likely supported a Republican ever. IOW, no effect at all.
The economy will grow. People will have jobs and prosper. The Republicans will win the 2018 Congressional elections. The one world/no borders globalist Democrats will lose.
Go for it Greenies. Suck votes from the Dem candidate.
No, it wouldn't. They probably would've passed it. One thing we've learned is that a MAJORITY of US Senate Republicans are bought and paid for by global masters who benefit from these schemes. Besides that, they'll do anything to vote against Trump.
Trump was 100% correct to take no chances.
President Trump said in his speech that Obama used State Department money to hand over for the Paris Accords. How sick is that? Money that should've been used to disintegrate ISIS was diverted to "climate change". Really, what's worse for the environment and for the future of mankind on earth than ISIS is?
Watermelon - Green on the outside, Red on the inside.
If you havent joined an environmental group, join one.”
Funny how everything they do involves fundraising.
