Donald Trump met with Sen. Ted Cruz on Capitol Hill Thursday -- the first meeting between the two former bitter campaign rivals since Cruz suspended his presidential campaign.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus was also in the meeting, according to sources. This was Trump's second trip to Capitol Hill in two months.
With less than two weeks before the Republican National Convention commences in Cleveland, Trump is looking to shore up support with the GOP's rank-and-file even as he faces backlash from members of his party. Some Republicans who are facing a tough re-election battle have chosen to skip the convention while others declined to meet with Trump this morning....

When Flake stood up and introduced himself, Trump told him, Youve been very critical of me. Yes, Im the other senator from Arizona the one who didnt get captured and I want to talk to you about statements like that, Flake responded, according to two Republican officials. Flake was referencing Trumps comments last summer about the military service of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who was a prisoner of war during the Vietnam conflict. Trump questioned whether McCain was a war hero because he was captured. Flake told Trump that he wants to be able to support him Im not part of the Never Trump movement, the senator said but that he remains uncomfortable backing him, the officials said. Trump said at the meeting that he has yet to attack Flake hard but threatened to begin doing so. Flakes spokesman did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

It was posted yesterday that Cruz wanted to speak at the convention. I'm certain that's what this is all about along with the sup[port issue.
Ya gotta think "Mr. Perfect Cruz" explaining the agreement to Trump......The agreement says support the nominee (which will occur after the vote at the convention)....not the presumptive nominee.
I'll give you Trump's reply to that....Scr** you. No speech for you!!

I am not a delegate...I am quoting their statements to a friend who volunteers in their office.

Amen, especially to your last statements!
The ones to which you refer will probably foam at the mouth over the deal!

Perhaps we are just too stupid. Even Ted told us that.

Senator Sasse went to todays meeting ready to listen. Senator Sasse introduced himself to Mr. Trump, and the two had a gracious exchange, said James Wegmann, the senators spokesman. Mr. Sasse continues to believe that our country is in a bad place and, with these two candidates, this election remains a dumpster fire. Nothing has changed.

Trump will think less of him for dragging the manager along And you think Trump, the consummate negotiator and strategist, would have Roe there for absolutely no purpose? Don't think so. There's something important going on here and Trump needs Cruz even though you may not want to believe he does. Having the support of those 559 bound delegates could sure come in handy fending off any challenges from the never Trump movement. You forget that the Cruz campaign was able to appoint many of the delegates that Trump won in numerous states because he was so much better organized.

Unbelievable here on FR that anyone defends and supports Lyn’ Ted at this point when it is so incredibly obvious that this really means supporting Clinton. Lyn’ Ted was so thoroughly rejected, he lost, he’s a serial liar, a Natural Born Canadian, and does not stand for what most of us in this group support or represent.

Why with his manager?? Cuz Cruz was scared to face Trump alone and needed a crutch. Wow...what a characteristic.

No Press Conference? No news of their talk? Just anonymous leaks. Must be more fun that way.

Quotes on on complete erroneous false statements?
I think we have a higher standard here than that.

Sasse is a total traitor to our party. He has spend weeks trying to divide us— not unite us. If he “comes lately” i guess some will forgive him. I feel sorry for those trying to devide us like ryan, graham, JEB!! romney and kasick. All sore losers and party deviders— not uniters.

You're right....No matter where he goes, Cruz is an antagonist.
He's also not so good at Supreme Court picks.
Ain't that a fact, Mr. Roberts.

Not going to happen.
Too many questions about Cruz’s eligibility.
Whether founded OR NOT... it just gives the enemy too much ammo.
(and I do mean enemy)
Trump has a hard enough battle ahead.
He needs a VP who will help him in an election.
Cruz would be better for Trump (and US) as AG or SCOTUS.
I like Newt, despite his drawbacks.
But he would be a better Chief Of Staff
