Overflow crowds in Peoria greeted 2016 presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on his third of five Monday rallies in Illinois the day before Tuesday's pivotal primary elections.
Cruz commented that republican frontrunner Donald Trump "may be the one person on the face of the planet Hillary Clinton can beat in a general election" according to political reporter Rosie Gray.
Cruz mentioned Cook County politics, garnering boos from the crowd in reference to Chicago, Illinois. He slammed Trump over donations to politicians such as the disgraced and imprisoned Rod Blagojevich, the Cook County Democratic Party, and Rahm Emmanuel....

There were 10,000 of us at the Trump rally in Youngstown, Ohio tonight, and we never sat down...no chairs. This was a rally conceived less than 36 hours before the rally began. Trump One taxied up to the hanger where we all were. Gov Christie and Mr Donald Trump came out of the plane. The cheering was deafening. Gov Christie introduced Mr Trump. In all my 80 years I have never experienced anything like this.
I was born in the middle of FDR's first term. I listened to his fireside chats on the radio. In 1948 I saw both Dewey and Truman during their campaign when they came through Des Moines. Later I saw Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower, in person.
None of those experiences matched the one tonight, being at a Donald J Trump rally!
Note, I am not one of the Cruz-crap low information voters. I am a Chemist and a Chemical Engineer from accredited universities. I spent 40 years in various capacities in industry. My IQ likely exceeds that of the lyin' Ted. My wife and I both support Donald J Trump!
Go TRUMP!
See my post #181.
That’s cool! I’ll cut you more slack then.
Yep ..they have moved on to a new line of attack ...they are also coalescing behind Cruz ...
Well they aren’t backing Trump ...they are backing Cruz .. no surprise , Cruz has been owned by them for a long time ... it’s funny to see you in a position of defending the GOPe’s new boy , Cruz ... I don’t envy you at all ... although however, you are welcome to join us and help elect Trump ...
Go Cruz/GOPe go !
If I didn’t say so yet I miss the last terrible election. McCain and Romney were putrid but at least we could all agree on that. To have a putrid candidate that everyone believes is great and they attack you not helping measure his big fat head for it’s crown is too much to take.
I still believe Trump leans left, but at this point he has my support. He is willing to stand up against the dark forces who want to destroy this country, and not back down and apologize when the Media starts wailing with their crocodile tears.
Maybe they all had hemmorhoids..
The post you were responding to used that word. You quoted it in your response.
Oh snap. I didn’t even notice that...lol.
My bad.
It does. but maybe there will be less of these threads next week..
Delegates of course... But Cruz is behind in delegates isnt he?
I don’t understand how you can call trump a loser when tomorrow Cruz will get 3rd place in Florida and Ohio. Very important states in the general election by the way. Cruz wishes he could lose as much as trump.
[But the GOPe is coalescing behind Cruz ...are you comfortable with that?]
The GOPe is coalescing behind someone; better CRUZ than ROMNEY. Are you comfortable with that?
Did you read post 153?
Just now - because you asked.
It looked like you and Wendell were have a go at it.
I agree that Cruz criticized the protesters, however there is no way he should have also provided even a fig leaf covering for them by stating that Trump's campaign is partially to blame.
I have no problem with the mud-slinging, and even some of the so-called 'dirty tricks' during the campaign. It is distasteful, but it is politics. But this was much different.
The Chicago mob were Bolshevik wannabees. They are trying to steal the Country and remake it into some Communist hell-hole. At that point, no matter how much Cruz wanted to throw mud at his opponent (again, standard fare during political campaigning), he and ANY American should have just laid the blame solely, and one-hundred percent, on these thugs. I like(d) Cruz, but he disappointed me by trying to score some political points on this one.
Well, if you like Reagan, you’ll appreciate that Trump called Reagan a con man in his nifty little Art of the Deal book. So I’m guessing it’s OK now for Cruz to mention Reagan since Trumpy didn’t like him much anyway. Thought he was pretty empty-headed, too. So it’s OK to use your “ugh” against Reagan now as well as Cruz.
Sir, I am very conservative, and I thought Sen Cruz was the epitome of Conservative. I find him not. But this election is not about ‘conservative’. It is about, as Mr Trump says, ‘Make America Great Again’.
Cruz is an establishment candidate. No matter how much he denies, he still is. Check his wife’s history, politically. CFR all the way.
Trump leans left...so did Reagan. Neither are left. The Bush’s are far left. All of them. George H W Bush was foisted on Reagan by the ‘establishment’, to help keep Reagan under control. Before that they wanted Reagan to have Gerald Ford as his VP - co-presidents, as it were.
The GOPe is not us. Neither is Ted Cruz.
I love Cruz, but he must be the only person in America who thinks Hillary will beat Trump.
