Donald Trump seems to think he has revolutionized political campaigns. Without spending much money, he is on top of the national polls but is behind in Iowa and losing ground according to some polls in New Hampshire. Trump is running a campaign without spending money on polling, paid advertisements, or get-out-the-vote efforts. He probably views it as cost-effective, but it may end up costing him the nomination.
His long-promised ânext phaseâ defined by new spending, such as a wave of television commercials, has so far failed to materialize, week after week. His advisers have not revealed the existence of any pollsters on their staff or any advertising team. He has no real research operation to examine his own vulnerabilities or those of his opponents and, based on Federal Election Commission filings, little in the way of a voter contact operation to identify and turn out his supporters.
Mr. Trump had hurt himself in Iowa by not augmenting his news presence with a parallel effort to push his message through ads, mailers and phone banks. âSuch an effort would have also inoculated him from attack,â he said....

We’ll get people out.
Well, he didn’t get this far all by himself you know.. Rove, Bush, Rubio, Kasich and the GOPe et al were all great inspirations for the people to get behind Trump and Cruz.
AMEN Boss!!!
Actually Trump has an excellent get-out-the-vote ground game going on. Another pencil clown who does not know what he is speaking about.
Nobody can play rope-a-dope like Trump.
The get out the vote effort by Trump supporters seems to be spontaneous and spreading.
Old paradigms don’t apply.
” But not everyone who shows up at a rally is going to take the trouble to vote for Trump”
Why bother going to a rally for a candidate you’ve no intention of voting for? And if you go anyway, there’s a good chance Trump in person will change your mind. I suppose to this writer, Jeb and Hillary’s rally attendances measured in the dozens foretell nothing.
What?
This guy is telling the PR expert on how to do PR? Give me a break!
The Donald IS the “get-out-the-vote” operation. He is attracting HORDES of people who have not voted for years, or have NEVER voted. Not all that crowd that shows up are of that minority of card-carrying Republicans who have formed almost hard-core support for The Donald within the Republican party. The presence of groups like the “stump for Trump “ girls Diamond and Silk are not isolated occurrences.
Political Correctness is not all that popular with a growing number of people who still consider themselves to be “American”, even though everything possible is being done to obliterate the existence of that nation once known as “the United States of America”.
The Donald is thinking and playing outside your little box. He’ll have more than “get out the vote”.
The writer here says that Trump’s ground game is failing because Trump hasn’t started what he promised, namely spending on traditional campaign expenditures such as internal polling, tv ads, blah, blah, blah.
He neglects to mention the possibility that Team Trump may have the confidence of no longer needing any of it to win.
Why does Trump need to advertise when he has Obama, the Dems and the GOPe making his case everyday? Anyway, nobody can out-rally Trump.
I call BS on this article. I know the North Texas Campaign Manager and he is a sharp young man who is getting the job done and recruiting volunteers. I also give kudos to Trump for recruiting Katrina Pierson. She is as sharp as a tack and takes no prisoners!
Weâll get people out.

Absolutely!
Egotists do that.
The day will come when Trump will wish he had Cruz’s organization. Should we be unfortunate enough to see a Trump nomination, that would come in the general election, when he would run headlong into a Democrat slime machine which is extremely skilled in ballot management and fraud.
