Michael Reagan: My Father Would Be Appalled at Trump
By Greg Richter | 10 Sep 2015
GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump has compared himself to Ronald Reagan, but the Republican icon would be "appalled" at the way Trump acts, Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV.
Trump's personal attacks on fellow candidates, including the recent Rolling Stone report of him talking about Carly Fiorina's appearance, go too far, said Reagan, a radio talk show host and son of the former president.
Reagan said he hopes Trump's actions hurt him not only with women voters, but with all voters.
"What he's done is really appalling," he said. "My father would be appalled. On behalf of my father and the Reagan family to see someone like this who just personally attacks people time and time and time again is absolutely appalling to me and I hope all the voters start to see through Donald Trump and the kind of candidate that he his and the kind of president he may end up being."
Trump should instead be focusing on what he would do as president, Reagan said.
"It's nice to say, 'I'm going to make America great again,' but how are you going to do that? What laws are you going to pass? What bills are you going to pass? How are you going to work with Congress? What are you going to do?" Reagan said.
Trump's followers are equally troubling, Reagan said. He recently tweeted that one can be either a Reagan Republican or a Trump Republican, but not both.
There are four governors in the race who have made their state's great again, as Trump says he wants to do with America, Reagan said, and he is troubled they aren't doing better in the polls.

Michael Reagan: Shut Up Tea Party, Your Candidates Are Kooks

The Tea Party zealots who havent learned from their mistakes in 2010 and 2012 are trying their best to screw up the GOPs chances to win the Senate this fall.
Where does the Tea Party find these people to run in primaries? Most important, why do they offer them up as legitimate Republican candidates?
The Tea Party bosses have been listening to too much talk radio. They seem to think that what makes a good Republican candidate is someone who sounds like a talk radio host.
But talk radio is all about bombast and attracting callers, not about winning elections.
If Republicans are going to win general elections in 2014 and beyond, weve got to put up principled conservative candidates who sound like senators, congressmen, and governors not kooks.
Also Huckster, Gilmore, and Christie in addition to those already mentioned. Not one will be President, since they have all been FTGs.
Ronald would be more appalled at the condition the GOP is in right now.
Picking Bush as his VP would be a close second...
Well, as I think about it, I gotta say that Trump sometimes acts very PC. Let's consider how he tried to back off and explain away his attack on Fiorina. Or how he denied that his criticism of Megyn Kelly had anything to do with menstruation.
If he were truly the brave "anti-PC" crusader he claims to be, I believe he ought to say something like, "Of course I was referring to Carly's face, and of course I was talking about Megyn's period." He should claim ownership of those remarks and be proud about it. That kind of stance would REALLY be anti-PC
But no, when he's caught with his hand in the metaphorical cookie jar, he just sorta looks down at his shoes and says, "I really didn't mean it."
Courageous anti-PCism personified?
Methinks not.
>> FOUR governors? <<
Excellent question!
I count nine (in no particular order):
Kasich
Bush
Jindal
Christie
Walker
Perry
Gilmore
Pataki
Huckabee
But at least there aren’t 57 of them!
If Reagan was still alive and active—there would need no Trump. I think they would get along rather well.
Lol! Good response.
Well, since you put it that way ...
Well Michael you don’t know what your father would think about Trump given the current state of affairs.
If you read it in Bill Murray’s voice (from Ghostbusters), you got it right. ;)
Michael, don't be petty.
Your dad would have hundreds of more outrageous and incredible acts of social, economic and political insanity, all perpetrated by elected criminals of both parties (actual facts) than a dozen Trumps and (speculative) random acts of political incorrectness.
Prepared to be stunned times 100 before this desperate period of ineptitude is fixed.
One wonders...
