In a poll conducted from July 17th to July 20th, support for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump hasn’t taken a hit despite Trump’s comments about Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Saturday, July 18th, while attending the Family Leadership Summit in Iowa.

A recent Morning Consult poll reveals Trump leads all of the GOP contenders, with 22 percent of the vote. This places Trump seven percentage points ahead of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who held 15 percent of the vote. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker came in third place with 12 percent of the vote.

According to the poll, Dr. Ben Carson got eight percent, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee came in with seven percent, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) held six percent, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) held five percent, and both Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) were tied with 4 percent...

I see him as the Silvio Berlusconi of American politics. He’s larger than life and messy, but who’s to say he couldn’t be a pol later in life?

There is no love for Juan McLame among “the crazies” out here in fly-over country.

That this is news to the media shows just how disconnected they are from real life and real people.

The attraction of Trump is proportionate to the loathing of politicians and the media. As such, the phenomenon must remain a mystery because to understand it would be to agree, and I don’t think McCain and Wolf Blitzer want to admit they are hated by the public.

It’s also tied to the immigration disaster, which the GOP, Dems, and MSM want to deny.

Why is Cruz polling so low?

Is Cruz evan campaigning? The only news I've seen him make this week was from a Senate hearing about immigration. Not saying that is bad. It's a LONG way to the finish line.

Trump, with a sentence, can destroy legacies.

All (except Cruz) are exposed by virtue of their public record.

Note: John McCain attacks will increase poll numbers, people are so sick of him.

Sounds like a plan. Trump has the bully pulpit of personal power and cruz has the campaign infrastructure and is the smartest man in the room when it comes to constitutional law. I see some good things here.

Trump rising in the polls is no mystery. Real Americans haven’t heard anyone speak the truth, and vocalize what they themselves are feeling, for 30 years. It’s invigorating to realize that there is someone out there who cares that America is no longer strong or good. We have hope again.

Well said. It must be driving the media crazy to see that despite their best efforts at influencing outcomes, folks are paying no attention to them.... and drip by drip, their power and hold is eroding away. As for the McCain and Graham types, it has to be a real conundrum for them... every time they go after Trump, he hits back three times harder and with the public on their side.

I’ve been scratching my head as to why Cruz isn’t doing better in the polls. I’ve read that Cruz has been invited to be the keynote speaker at various events previously and in the upcoming months. He’s doing well at fundraising. I think the MSM just isn’t necessarily talking too much about him. Post 8 here has various articles on him; http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3314746/posts

I agree with you. If I hadn’t read it on FR, I wouldn’t have known about all of his previous experience. In his speeches that I’ve heard, he often talks about his “roots” and now and then about being Solicitor General of Texas and managing a large staff (IIRC it was something like 700), but not all of the other great experience he’s had - - a lot more than being a college law teacher (he was not a professor as many claim).

I certainly hope so. They don’t understand that nobody believes them anymore. mcCain was created in their image and now people don’t like that image anymore.

Donald Trump, for all his flaws is the only candidate who is addressing the issues that need to be addressed. The other Republicans are in fear of the media.

Just hope Trump comes out on top.

Cruz would be the go to guy for VP.

Trump would probably serve only one term as POTUS, then Cruz slides in for 2.

Hell, since the Constitution doesn’t mean anything anymore, Cruz might as well be President for life, who is going to stop him?

I like what Trump's doing and have a sense that he would be fine as president despite some of the "concerns" many have.

Love the pic - saw it earlier and got a chuckle.
