To Jeb, running for president, is an act of love.
Now are we going to have to hear how he, “stands up?”
Since Trump support is based on the media writing stories like this about him, will we now have to hear how great Bush is and he’s “standing up,” the media.
Oh great, mean and stupid.
I believe that this is a direct result of the Trump phenomena. The DC establishment (the unholy triumvirate of the media, the DNC, and the GOP) are scared to death of Trump, who is clearly the only alpha male in the room. He is already above the media, immune from their barbs, and is looking increasingly inoculated against gaffes that would be fatal to ordinary politicians. In fact, like Clinton and his affairs, gaffes seem to strengthen and broaden his support and make his opponents look weak and petty.
They don’t understand the Trump phenomena (nor, incidentally, do a lot of conservatives). The anger, dismay, and contempt towards DC is a broad coalition, spanning conservatives, blue collar democrats, working class hispanics and blacks, and independents (essentially, the Reagan coalition, and also one which overlaps the Perot movement, and the Tea Party movement). It isn’t a group that is easy to pigeonhole, because it isn’t made up of the normal voting blocks, but rather cuts through all of them. And it is that which Trump is tapping into.
So the theme now will be “Jeb! — no more Mr. Nice Guy.” It won’t work, but it shows that they are worried (and yes, I have no doubt that Larry Sabato is not an “analyst”, but rather part of the DC establishment).
They are really going to be shocked when Trump continues to rise in the polls, and expands his support beyond Republican voters. But what will really shock them is when he wins, and selects Ted Cruz as his running mate.
Will Jeb be mean to the Obama/Sanders socialist wing of the Democrat party? Will Jeb be mean to the Iranians and to ISIS? Will Jeb be mean when Putin steps out of line? Will Jeb be mean to illegals who violate our borders and our laws?
Or will Jeb only be mean to conservative, patriotic Americans who want smaller government?
Trump should take a measly $1 million and hire 20 P.I.s to investigate Columba Bush’s “immigration” history. Because from everything I’ve seen, she did NOT come here legally, and the powerful Bush clan “fixed” her “glitch.”
And of course he lied.
