Some Dems giving up on trying to spin Hillary’s e-mail fiasco, mumbling “who gives a [expletive]?”

Honestly, it may be their best remaining play. They can’t claim that private e-mail is good practice when the State Department itself is on record as saying it isn’t. They can’t claim that it’s basically as secure as government e-mail when even lefty sites are reporting that that’s wildly untrue. On the merits, in terms of national security and as evidence of the creepy lengths to which President Claire Underwood will go in the name of evading accountability, it’s a total disaster.

The only move left on this chessboard is to ignore all that and simply insist that voters won’t care regardless. That’s not untrue, but it’s revealing that this is what Team Blue has been reduced to arguing.

Clinton supporters have pushed back against the media and Republicans, waving off the stories as yet another Twitter-fueled much-ado-about-nothing that has little resonance with the typical voter beyond Washington.

“Voters do not give a $#*+ about what email Hillary used,” said Democratic strategist Paul Begala, a longtime Clinton ally and CNN contributor. “They don’t even give a fart.”

But if regular voters aren’t paying attention, the Democratic power brokers who hold sway over the nomination process in key states — the legislators, local party chairmen and plugged-in activists — most definitely are. The questions some of them are raising are less about the specifics of the stories and more about the long-established narratives they feed: That the secretive Clintons, enabled by unquestioning loyalists, play by their own rules.

“The questions relating to Hillary are more about, are we tired of the same old thing?” asked one prominent Democratic state Senator in South Carolina who wished to remain anonymous.

Is that Begala stating a political fact? Trying to reassure Democratic establishmentarians who are already weary at the thought of another four years of scandal? Or nervously trying to reassure himself because even he isn’t sure at this point how bad this might get? There’s a small but nonzero chance, I think, that foreign hackers might capitalize on the media attention by dribbling a few purloined Hillary e-mails onto the Internet to embarrass her. Nothing too embarrassing — why waste your strongest hand now when you could play it for maximum advantage after she’s president and in a position to make concessions? — but maybe just a little something to screw with America’s head about what else might be out there. That’s the only way this becomes a real political liability for her. Hard proof that her e-mail was accessed when stories are swirling about how lax her cybersecurity was would be a gut punch to her credibility on national security.

As for the “who gives a $#*+?” approach, it’s not just Begala who’s pushing that line, of course. Watch below and you’ll find Hillary’s successor answering a question about the e-mails by sneering sarcastically that he hasn’t had time yet to pay any attention to “such an important issue.” That’s going to be the Democratic establishment’s new talking point for as long as they can maintain it: No matter what you may read in the newspaper, no matter what some hyperventilating wingnut or wild-eyed Elizabeth Warren fan tells you, sleep easy knowing that this is a nothingburger because it just is and that’s all you need to know about it. Voters won’t care. Ergo, you, voter, shouldn’t care. Got it?

Exit question via RB Pundit and Ace: As of late this afternoon, Rachel Maddow had studiously avoided the Hillary e-mail debacle in her otherwise busy Twitter account today. How come? I’d expect her to be #ReadyForWarren, not part of the Kerry/Begala “who gives a $#*+?” crowd. Maybe she’s calculating that until this story goes fully nuclear and/or Warren makes some noise about actually running, she’s better off staying on Her Majesty’s good side. Goodwill from the White House will come in handy for a major media figure if we end up with another Clinton administration after all.

“Is it true Jeb Bush had private emails as well? If so, he needs to be called on it”

Foreign enemy countries are not hacking the emails of governors looking for top secret directives.

Reasons to care about her emails

It is not uncommon in illicient groups that an email account is created. More than one person is given the log in information. Emails are never sent but kept in the draft file to be read by the others loggin in. Group can the. Communicate without actually leaving a footprint
It is imperative that Federal Marshalls get hold of that server

With this information in mind Connect these dots:

1. $6 billion missing from state department
2. Multiple email account under various fake names register out of the public eye
3 Unlimited travel through out the world without going thru customs
4. A history of deceit and bending of the rules and ought right lies
5. Large contributions to a family controlled charity by foreign and domestics who have opportunity to gain
6. Questionable relationships with people of questionable background (including daughter’s inlaws , sibling of both Hill and Huma etc)
7. And ......

“Is it true Jeb Bush had private emails as well? If so, he needs to be called on it”

Nothing wrong with vetting Jeb’s email, both private and government ones. But, here’s the difference; Jeb had both private and government addresses and presumably used his government address for government communication and his private address for private communication. Conversely, Hillary used her private address for both personal and government communication. In fact, she never even had a government email address. Additionally, she had her own server to manage it in her home. Get the difference?

I worked for a Fortune 500 company. We were not even allowed to access our private email at work. They were super security conscious. After the Microsoft lawsuit where people at Microsoft had written damaging and incriminating things the system was set to delete all emails after 30 days. If I got anything I considered potentially damaging to me, I printed it and took it home.

But the real problem with personal email accounts is they represented a potential attack vector that let hackers inside our firewall. The question is, what link did she click that opened the entire government system to attack?

This is actually good news. Shrillary is weakened by each successive faux-pas. She is not invincible. The more she is seen and heard, the less she is liked. I prefer a baggage laden scandal ridden Rodham to some shiny new unknown likely Latino shooting star. Lets put the corrupt Clinton machine and matriarchal democrat party on full display.

They are throwing any last pretense of following the rule of law under the bus. That's what "who gives a crap" really means. Who cares if we don't follow the law anymore to get what we want?

The problem is, if they don't care, why should we? If they don't care about this law, why should we expect them to care about, say, counting votes?

"They are throwing any last pretense of following the rule of law under the bus."

You need to include economic "laws" as well since "Too big to fail" has become a mantra, whoops, a Repub President pushed that cause.

"They" essentially are/is a non-partisan outfit, especially if "they" whitewash other "they's" high crimes and misdemeanors (Constitutional definition and context not modern day "academic" jurisprudence that intentionally create an abstract definition of HC&M).

didn’t Petraeus just plead to a felony for discussing “classified” information on his email with his bimbo? Did “Her Thighness” engage in classified email pillow talk with her bimbette?

enquiring minds want to know

I have yet to see anyone on the Left address the fact that she broke the law & should be indicted. That’s because our Rat controlled government wont indict a fellow Rat under ANY circumstances.

Holder/Lynch wont indict HRC because Obama will tell them not to. She knows too much.

Rats are a criminal conspiracy like a street gang. They are all up to their necks in criminality, therefore they cannot rat out each other for fear their own crimes would come to light.

WOW, that is very interesting.

What we’re hearing now could just be the rumbling before the big explosions - if we ever get the truth of these email accounts.

I’ve thought that the Clintons are kind of a ponzi scheme of power - they have to keep their power going to be able to keep a lid on their horrendous corruption. If Hillary doesn’t get the nomination then the jig is up - except I have a hard time seeing the GOPe doing a damn thing about it. But once the nomination is done there goes the new truckloads of money.

Is it true Jeb Bush had private emails as well?

I'm no fan of Jeb, but so long as he used private emails for personal matters only, I don't see anything wrong with it. Had he used official emails for personal matters, his opponents would be complaining about that.

Some legal expert on Fox, probably Judge Napolitano, pointed out that one law she may have violated is punished by the person being ineligible for holding federal office.

Of course Obama could come to her rescue in that case with a pardon, but he has no reason to help her unless her downfall hurts him.

The media is doing its best to ignore the White House complicity in this--as if for four years no one at the White House noticed that she wasn't using a state.gov email address.

To: Always A Marine; All

Love him or loathe him, Mitt Romney was right about one thing: There is a 47% in this nation that will vote Liberal/DemocRAT regardless. Bill Clinton and Barack Obama proved that this 47% will vote the Dem Ticket, even if the Prez is getting oral sex from a girl, near his daughter’s age, in the Oval Office or if the Prez is a Communist Muslim who hates America; they can run and win re-election. How can this be? Well when you start with this 47% already in your column, and then add another 4 percent who claim to be “Independent” but always end up voting for the DemocRATS. Hello..........
