Former Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said hes still pondering a run for the White House because he doesnt want Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) define the GOP.
King, whos made five trips up to early primary state New Hampshire and admitted in July that hes toying with the idea of a presidential campaign, told MSNBC he hasnt made up his mind yet and his decision should come sometime next year, either next year or the beginning of 2015.
Again, Ive been up there five times. I am looking at it. People are talking to me. But so far, Im just using it as a chance to find out whats happening on the ground, support other Republicans. But if I see the support is there, then Ill make that decision, he said.
I think a presidential run itself is very important whether its me or somebody else. I dont want the Ted Cruzes and the Rand Pauls taking over the Republican Party. I want this to be a blue collar, conservative, Ronald Reagan party with someone who can work with organized labor, strong foreign policy, dont be apologizing for America, dont be afraid about drones attacking us in Starbucks.
When asked if he could beat New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), King replied, I think you should ask Chris Christie if he can beat me.
And actually, yeah, Ive known Chris Christie for quite a while. This is what happens. I mean, if he jumps in, thats one thing. That wouldnt that alone would not be enough to keep me out. I mean, Chris Christie and I get along. We share some views, others we dont. And well see what happens. But I wouldnt be deferring to anyone else, the congressman said.
One way or the other, Ill be to Iowa, yeah, because if nothing else, just to talk to other Republicans to find out what direction the party should go in. I mean, New Hampshire and Iowa set the tone for the campaign and that sets the tone for the party and the country.
How about Palin/Paul? (Palin obviously being President, Paul being VP)
manc, honest to G-d, I cannot for the lufe of me figure out how these people think. It’s like trying to find your way through a cursed labyrinth. You can find your way in but there’s no way out.
Oh puh-leaze!
We can manipulate them into fighting among themselves. Better yet, we can manipulate their supporters into fighting.
King had better take some lessons in diction. He sounds like your typical New Yorker. Can’t understand a word he’s saying.
Just Cruz alone could save the gop from total extinction. Fight us and they will damn sure soon see why. Sarah and Cruz...whither thou goest...
Angry ugly old guy— Yeah, he’s electable....
Because Rand Paul supports AMNESTY of 30 million illegal aliens and they would absolutely SINK America, or what’s left of it that they have not sucked up already. GOT IT?
Save the American Worker! Rand Paul does’nt give a crap about them. OR has he back peddeled lately to run for office?
“King had better take some lessons in diction. He sounds like your typical New Yorker. Cant understand a word hes saying.”
Will Peter King sell down here in Texas? I’m gonna think about that. Ok, I’m through thinking about that. Let’s see, what’s another good joke, lol :)
Stand in the middle and get run over.
RINO POS from the next district. Sometimes he’s worse than the Dhimmicrat POS in my own district. At least I know what to expect from my POS.
I didn’t know king was a comedian.
Go after his politics. You have good cause. Just because he dosent flavor his discourse with Git Er Done, or Choot ‘em, Does not make him a RINO. Being a RINO makes him a RINO.
King would fly like a lead balloon here in Indiana. LOL
How he manages to keep his seat in Congress is a mystery. He is living in Fantasy Land.
King is one of those politicians you don’t want to be in front of when there is a camera behind you. He’s on TV as much as Mc Cain.
Everything I need to know about Peter King, I learned when he started screaming for laws to protect congressmen from their constituents within hours of the Giffords shooting.
Who will save us from King?
