Guy With Laser-Like Focus on the Economy Releases His Home Brewed Beer Recipe
Mental Recession ^ | 09/01/2012

Posted on 09/01/2012 12:14:25 PM PDT by rustyweiss74

Amidst a flooding crisis in Louisiana that has left thousands seeking help in emergency shelters and thousands more lined up seeking necessities, and in the midst of the longest period of sustained unemployment since World War II, with an administration that recently claimed the President has "a lot on his plate", so much so that he can't meet with his jobs council that hasn't convened since January, the over-worked President had time to release this - his recipe for making home-brewed beer.

From the official White House website:

Ed. Note: There's been a lot of buzz online recently about the recipe for the White House Honey Ale and White House Honey Porter, including a popular petition on We the People, the White House's online petition platform.

With public excitement about White House beer fermenting such a buzz, we decided we better hop right to it.

Inspired by home brewers from across the country, last year President Obama bought a home brewing kit for the kitchen. After the few first drafts we landed on some great recipes that came from a local brew shop. We received some tips from a couple of home brewers who work in the White House who helped us amend it and make it our own. To be honest, we were surprised that the beer turned out so well since none of us had brewed beer before.

As far as we know the White House Honey Brown Ale is the first alcohol brewed or distilled on the White House grounds. George Washington brewed beer and distilled whiskey at Mount Vernon and Thomas Jefferson made wine but there's no evidence that any beer has been brewed in the White House.

And here's a recipe for the White House Honey Ale.

I like beer .... so I guess I can finally agree with Obama on something. Ew ... I need a shower.

But yeah, this is not an important thing. What about jobs? Economy? Taxes? Afghanistan? Too many other things going on right now for him to waste time on this.

Obama ... you’re fired!

Yeah, I noticed that too (been homebrewing off and on for a lot of years). Nothing wrong with the recipe, of course. I tend to go the extract-and-specialty grain route myself. But this is a pretty basic brew concoction considering all the hub-bub that’s been ginned up around it. I’ve done as good, or better in my own carboys. You’d think they’d a least have used a liquid specialty yeast for something a little more distinctive.

I saw a story about this earlier. Trying hard to figure out what this accomplishes for the campaign, since we know danged well that is the only reason the Soros Administration would be treading in this territory. I clicked on this thread because I am hoping some astute FReeper will explain it.

It is basically how I brew beer at home except I do a 4 gallon steep and boil.

I am back at home from my trip to Mississippi so this Friday ay 5:30 CDT FR will have a Beer Thirty Thread for the homebrewers and wine makers here on FR.

Pinging The Homebrewers List.

Imagine the comments from the various media outlets had this been from a Republican President.

Hmmm...

- Promotion of Alcoholism
- Poor example for children
- Frivilous behavior in a bad economy
- How can a CINC brew/drink while our soldiers die in foreign countries for “big oil”
- Brewing Beer is RACIST!

Classic.

And think of all those brewery jobs he is short-circuiting! Why if everyone home brewed, it could make a major negative impact on foreign liquor companies like SABMiller and AB InBev (Bud).

And think of the children. What a poor example. By home brewing, he cut out the liquor and excise taxes that help fund inner city yutes. That’s RACIST! Well if he had an (R) after his name.

With public excitement about White House beer fermenting such a buzz, we decided we better hop right to it.

The press is soooooooooo full of sh*t. I highly frigging doubt that the majority of people are concerned about their "messiah's" beer recipie. They're probably more concerned about jobs, the economy, inflation, and high gas prices. I never want to hear the term White House honey or argula again, after this jack ass is eviscareted in November!

Since I sat through a 3-hour, free “introduction to homebrewing” course this morning, I find that this is very timely for me.

Of course, I’m unlikely to vote for Obama as a result of it (no surprise there).

For all the buzz this beer created I was expecting FAR more than a very basic extract + DME and a bit of crystal and honey.

This seems almost amateurish. Beginner level brew.

Cheers,

It would not be too hard to isolate a strain of natural yeast near the white house and do some experiments. They could try a yeast from the garden area and if it made good beer it could really be distinctive.

How about a strain of natural yeast from inside the White House?
