This was the best Presidential acceptance speech I`ve heard since Reagan`s in 1980. Romney harnessed the energy and laid out a hopeful, positive vision for America`s future.

I think it was the one where he got up, said a few words of appeasement, and then asked for Permission from the Democrats to be placed on the ballot as the “loyal opposition.”

Speech was workmanlike. Nothing exceptional but added a point or two. What will be more important is not their acceptance speeches but their debates. Hope and change will not sell at the debates this time around. The man now has a record and numbers not rhetoric will define him.Romney knows his numbers. He will wipe the floor numerically with the teleprompterless Obama.

Best coherent speech since Reagan.

I agree. Of course, after teh last four years of hearing a torurous mixture of street slang/rap/ebonics/valley-girl, it's really hard to tell if it was really good or just refreshing to hear someone with a college vocabulary speaking simply and clearly.

...”B-. The guy is just too too precious. He tilts his head just so, his eyes sparkle his teeth gleam. He just creeps me out.

I don’t like him. If that offends you tough”...

So, you have judged him on physical appearance. So, Mitt is not your “gift of gab” party boy charmer. Frankly, I am sick of those born with charisma becoming our leaders. I want someone who has demonstrated responsible behavior in their lives and Mitt Romney captures my first impression because of his devotion to his wife of 40 years and because of his love for his children and the actions he has taken to help those around him in need. His business success is an American story which should inspire everyone. Those who lie about him in that regard are full of envy and do not want the American dream to be known to future generations. After learning a lot more about Mitt Romney due to this convention, I have gone from a lukewarm supporter to someone who swoons at the sight of him. He IS an American hero because of his stewardship over what was handed to him. Contrast Mitt Romney to Obama, who never held a real job prior to coming into office and who has wasted more money and freedom than any President or person who has ever lived in the United States of America. How was he elected? Well, on personal appearance and charm..That is how. I hope our citizens with let go of the celebrity, youth effect and will look for American values and substance in this election because it is our last hope for personal freedom and it could be our last hope for sheer physical survival. The time is short.

>> [Reagan] lists success after success his policies had on America. Obama won’t be able to do that.

OH YES HE WILL!!! You just hide and watch.

(of course, *Reagan* was telling the *truth*...)

Good start to the campaign and big picture plea to those who drank the Obama Kool Aid, but at some point, I’d like to see some specifics.

If he does well..get ready for the Romney dynasty.

Like JFK, his father wanted to be President.

We are going to get the sons of Romney.

It will be interesting to see how a First Lady with MS holds down the position for 8 years and what her causes will be.

Romney wants this badly, so he will go after Obama -unlike Mclame

Overall I was favorably impressed. This was not a GREAT speech- it was a very good one. He had some great moments though and I think we freepers have to remember something- that I often forget- maybe others do too..whoever wins this must convince the (admittedly ignorant) undecided and independents. These people do not eat red meat- they turn away from it.

Not his physical appearance (which is absolutely perfect right down to the 2.3057 inches of grey at his temples).

It’s his affect. Just flat out creepy.

Obama is several orders of magnitude creepier.

His creepy says I’ve got my boot on your neck. What are YOU going to do about it. I own all the guns.

” - - - A President does not create jobs, he creates the environment that allows private companies to create jobs - - - “

Well. said!

We all live on THE ENTITLEMENT PLANTATION. We sheep voters expect to be given free stuff. We think that we are “entitled” to receive a job from THE MAN in the BIG White House.

As you pointed out, the environment needs to change before a private company can even think about hiring someone.

What politicians have forgotten in their speeches about “jobs, Jobs, JOBS” is that there must first be work, Work, WORK!

In the Great Depression of the 1930’s, men did not go around with the “gimme a job” entitlement attitude. Instead, men went around looking for WORK! Where there was work to be done the men and often their entire families were hired to do WORK. Their “job” was to FIND work.

What work has Obama created? What conditions in society has Obama changed that has created the hope for work?

In similar fashion what work does Romney plan to create? What conditions in society does Romney plan to change that will create the hope for work?

I did not hear Romney mention abolishing the EPA, DOE, Department of Education, Federal Labor Relations Board, Public Federal Labor Unions, or any other work constricting Federal Bureaus.

I did not hear Romney mention abolishing the Dodd-Frank law.

Romney will have to address these issues that have created the environment that has caused a reduction in work by private companies.

Obama has tried to create tax-supported “jobs” while reducing the hope for work. The factors in Obama’s scorecard include the change in total number of people working, how many are not working, and the Total National Debt change for each day that he has been in office.

re: “You’ve sure got a lot of mouth on you for a newbie. That’s the second veteran Freeper I’ve seen you insult on this thread tonight.”

Sooo, if someone has been a Freeper for a long time and they say something immature and insulting, only other long time Freeper’s are allowed to give those same immature and insulting remarks their proper due?

I guess I didn’t get that memo.

A lot of us who are working and parents trying to make a good life for ourselves and our families, and contributing to the community, can relate to the lives of Mitt and Ann. I do as well. I share some of those traits as well, although some of those stories I was thinking “wow, could anyone give a testimonial that good about me? I dunno.”

They’ve been wildly successful, but that doesnt make them different ... or indifferent. Their lives are what many of us aspire to have and to be.

And the convention was great at celebrating a lot stories of people who worked hard to succeed, rather than denigrating succeed. It also showed the very humble roots of so many of those in the GOP, like Rubio, Ryan, Gov Martinez, and others.

And today he’s paying an impromptu visit to Louisiana to tour the flood stricken area with Gov. Jindal. While Obama has yet to make an appearance, spending time today one state away visiting the military. Beautiful!

It seemed that he started slow and dull, but picked up momentum as positive feedback from the audience increased. People need to understand that he’s not a glitzy, razzle-dazzle kind of guy; slow and steady are his strengths, plus many successes in his life on many levels. Sadly, people like glitz.
