PELL CITY, Ala. (AP) Newt Gingrich says he isn't dropping out of the Republican presidential race.
Gingrich said during an Alabama campaign swing Wednesday that he's staying in because it's impossible for a moderate Republican to be elected president in November. He was referring to front-runner Mitt Romney.

Newt should evaluate his chances after last night. There is only one candidate beating Mitt now.
Pray for America
Tennessee is part of the south. Not only did he NOT win, he didn’t even place second.
Poppycock.
All that has to happen is that Noot and Rick deny Myth 1144 delegates, and we have a brokered convention.
Both of them staying in gives the best chance of that.
And if there is a brokered convention, it means that the GOPe has lost control of the situation, and it's all up for grabs.
If Gingrich loses Alabama and Mississippi, than there is no way he can win and needs to drop out.
Nah, his supporters will find a way to blame Santorum.
~Newt Gingrich
You don’t know the GOP Country club. They are pretty entrenched in the Party and the Convention.
And they would prefer four more years of obama, hell, for that matter they would prefer 50 years of obama than to see a Conservative win the election. The GOP Country Club hates Conservatives more than the Left hates them.
Do you really think the remaining States are going to break for Rick?
There is already no way he can win and he needed to drop out after his bad loss in Florida and the Santorum wins in MO, CO, and MN made that clear.
And now after Super Tuesday winning only his home state to go with one! state he’s won before that even Ray Charles, despite being blind and dead, can now see that he has no chance of doing anything other than taking votes from the one person who can prevent a Romney nomination. That man’s name is not “brokered convention” it’s Rick Santorum. Sure there could be a brokered convention that could choose some candidate other than Romney or Santorum who are certain to finish in top 2, the Cubs could also win it all this year.
Newt cost RS big momentum popular vote wins in MI and OH, whereas the opposite is true in no state. 21 contests with Newt on the ballot so far, he’s won 2, placed second in 2, placed third in 5, fourth in 11, and fifth in 1. Won 2, runner up in only 2 others, Florida and Nevada.
It’s time to face facts before it’s too late. I appeal to Newt Gingrich to do the right thing before he costs RS some big winner take all state.
In other words, Newt won’t take his own advice.
Megalomania is never pretty when it craters. He’d destroy the country if he thought it could somehow create a scenario where he’d be elected President.
That would be out of character for Newt. Don't hold your breath, If he lost GA he might have quit.
I like it when he goes after Obama and Romney but when he talks about setting the price of gas to $2 or building a Moon Colony without tax dollars, and he explains that his making impossible promises is leadership, he loses me.
“If Gingrich loses Alabama and Mississippi, than there is no way he can win and needs to drop out.”
If Newt doesn’t drop out, we have no chance of getting rid of Romney. It might already be too late. Maybe we need to write Newt polite letters & ask him to reconsider.
Even though Rick is my favorite, I also think Newt would make a good POTUS, but he’s not winning the contests, and needs to face reality.
Yes, had Newt dropped out after Colorado and Minnesota, Santorum would have won both MI and OH, and gotten all of the momentum those victories would have afforded him.
But that’s in the past; let’s talk about next Tuesday. If Newt stays in, irrespective of whether he or Santorum wins MS and AL, the winner would get below 50%, which will mean that delegates will be allocated by proportional representation, and Romney will be awarded delegates from both states; if Newt drops out, though, Santorum will won both states with above 50%, which will trigger the state becoming winner-takes-all and Romney will receive 0 delegates.
