A new Gallup poll reveals that voters who identify as more conservative, do not have college degrees and who make less than $24,000 annually are more likely to support former Alaska governor Sarah Palin over Mitt Romney for president in 2012. Romney, on the other hand, has evidently fared better with voters who describe themselves as liberals to moderate, have received degrees of higher learning and who make at least $90,000 a year.
The split drives home the challenges facing any would-be GOP candidate: Catering to the partys base without completely alienating those on the fence, and appealing to voters across a wide spectrum without pitting disparate factions within the Republican party against one another.
Romney recently launched an exploratory committee and a dazzlingly fresh new logo in advance of a possible presidential run, but, so far, neither he nor Palin have definitely announced intent to run in 2012. Nor, for that matter, has Mike Huckabee, despite rumors that Fox News would prefer that Huckabee, who hosts his own show on the network, come to a decision sooner rather than later.
Why this (alleged) pressure to decide? Just take a look at the numbers:
When it comes to ideology, Gallup found that self-described conservatives favored ex-Arkansas governor Huckabee over Romney and Palin and found double-digit support among all income levels. Huckabee did the best among people earning $24,000 to $59,000 (22%).
What was arrogant about my post? I admittedly don’t care for her, but last I knew that wasn’t arrogant.
It seems to me that half of the people in this country would have an IQ of less than 100, since 100 is mean. (I know, it really doesn’t work out that way exactly, but it’s close) A 100 IQ is not all that exciting...
That would seem to put Palin in pretty good shape I would think.
I’ve never pretended to like her. I’m certainly not going to start pretending now. Amazing how a trivial comment about Palin is getting the attention, when it was just a segue to the real point of the post which was about Romney.
“Poll Reveals Poorer And Less Educated Voters Support Sarah Palin”
Well, they got me pegged.
I have to call BULLSHIT on this poll.
Anybody that has an ounce of “book learning” knows that Romney is exactly the wrong way to go. This is exactly why the “elitists” keep pushing him (or Trump, Mitch Daniels and so on.)
They keep trying to stamp Sarah Palin into the ground for one reason and one reason, only.
She can and will kick the shit out of Present Stroker and they KNOW it.
He seems to be just sitting back and watching, giving the impression that he has the nomination locked up.
Ah go ahead, name him, you’ll feel better if you do.
What I would like to know is why does this poll confirm everything you ever knew about Gov. Palin. What exactly does that mean.
We did that kind of thing in 1980. Remind me how many days it was before some “crazed gunman” shot President Reagan and the RINO VP almost became president....
poll is pure BS I have a BS, an income thats in Obamas favority target group. I love Sarah, cant stand Romney, Pawlenty, Daniels, Huntsman. Three frat boys and a real woman...... no contest
Let’s be honest. Does anyone think that Romney could actually win the nomination? I see Romney as the ultimate spoiler. Outside of little cluster in the West, where he apparently really is admired, who’s going to vote for him?
Yeah right. Just like you're supposed to be by this fake poll, designed... let's see... why, Toto, I think it's designed to... to... tear apart conservatives on class-war lines! What a coincidence that it had exactly that effect on you!
My point is that you've basically called FReepers (and others) who support Palin low income, uneducated rubes. That's not me, or most other Palin fans I know.
incredible...
when the progressives are removed from office we need to have massive trials and put these traitors were they belong.
I may or may not vote for her...in a primary depending on the other candidates.
Would you not vote...if she was the POTUS candidate?
The Jim Thompson Villas at FR Arms. LOL
Re “Elmer Gantry” and “Baptist minister”: Huck may have been a Baptist minister at one time, but he’s not even close now. He may hope to win votes of evangelicals, but true evangelicals can see through him, and they won’t buy it. (I’m a Baptist P.K. and have an insider’s view.) He’s much more Elmer than Baptist.
If “myopic so-cons” means southern conservatives... please know that we’re not myopic; we’re able to think logically, and do so. Huck is a dreadful person and would make a dreadful candidate/president.
I’m poor and educated, and I support Palin. So much for their poll.
Sigh...One more time, I wasn’t really torn. That was not only rhetorical, but just a segue to get to the point I wanted to make about Romney. No, I do not care for Palin, but no, that was not the thrust of my reply.
