Poll Reveals Poorer And Less Educated Voters Support Sarah Palin, Wealthier Voters Prefer Romney

A new Gallup poll reveals that voters who identify as more conservative, do not have college degrees and who make less than $24,000 annually are more likely to support former Alaska governor Sarah Palin over Mitt Romney for president in 2012. Romney, on the other hand, has evidently fared better with voters who describe themselves as “liberals to moderate”, have received degrees of higher learning and who make at least $90,000 a year.

The split drives home the challenges facing any would-be GOP candidate: Catering to the party’s base without completely alienating those on the fence, and appealing to voters across a wide spectrum without pitting disparate factions within the Republican party against one another.

Romney recently launched an exploratory committee and a dazzlingly fresh new logo in advance of a possible presidential run, but, so far, neither he nor Palin have definitely announced intent to run in 2012. Nor, for that matter, has Mike Huckabee, despite rumors that Fox News would prefer that Huckabee, who hosts his own show on the network, come to a decision sooner rather than later.

Why this (alleged) pressure to decide? Just take a look at the numbers:

When it comes to ideology, Gallup found that self-described conservatives favored ex-Arkansas governor Huckabee over Romney and Palin and found double-digit support among all income levels. Huckabee did the best among people earning $24,000 to $59,000 (22%).

We all know that this poll is pure bologna, but let's act as if it is accurate. Wouldn't that mean that Governor Sarah Palin would be the strongest GOP candidate? The only reason there was any net gain of jobs last month (if indeed there actually was) was because McDonald's hamburgers hired 66,000 people. What do you think the vast majority of those people make in a year? Do you think most of them have a bachelors degree or higher?

I’m torn. While this poll confirms everything I’ve ever thought about Sarah Palin, I’m confused to exactly which wealthy, educated voters are so thrilled with Romney. Romney strikes me as a poker player who’s only bold when he’s playing someone else’s stake.

You talk about a bullshit piece...

The FACT that the "intelligencia", which is code-speak for "Liberal-indoctrinated Socialism-supporters", where MOST recent college graduates have NO CLUE about REAL WORLD REALITIES and business, taxes, OR the U.S. Constitution as written and intended, and you KNOW who these "college graduates/higher educated/higher-earning" folks are (the bulk of them living off others, via Public Employee jobs).

We need to get back to basics in this country, and shit-can Unions starting with teachers and professors.

What I would like to know is how Elmer Gantry continues to have any support at all.

He’s pro-amnesty, lets murderers out of jail, is a socialist, raised taxes in Arkansas, believes in nanny-statism when it comes to food, is a terrible bassist, and raised a dog-killing son.

Is it because he is a Baptist minister and the myopic so-cons fall for his bravo sierra?

Well, I have a Harvard PhD, and I support Sarah. I think she is a LOT smarter than a certain Harvard Law graduate I could name.

Here we go with the “Palin supporters are all ignorant, uneducated, redneck hicks” crap again. Watch for more of this particular BS to be thrown as we approach the election.

If you look at the poll...the longer someone spends in the liberal machine...the more they tend to agree with Romney...hmmm...

With the way things are going, it won’t be long before we’re all making $25000 or less a year and by the lights of this article, Sarah will have the whole vote to herself.

While this poll confirms everything I’ve ever thought about Sarah Palin...

And that arrogant statement confirms everything I've ever thought about you.

It's really very simple; the ruling class prefers Milt because he's one of them and won't rock their boat.

Perhaps they are not so thrilled with him, but are even less thrilled with the alternatives being put forward. It is not like the field of potential candidates being talked about so far is something to get excited about.

“Poorer?” There are no poor people in America. Unless we’re talking spiritually poor, of which there are a lot, especially in Hollywood and Washington DC.

The wealthy, educated voters who are so thrilled about the guy can check off a resounding number in the following:
  1. I support a woman's "right to choose," therefore I cannot support FR.
  2. I support "gay rights," therefore I cannot support FR.
  3. I support "illegal immigration rights," therefore I cannot support FR.
  4. I think guns are dangerous and so support "reasonable" gun control, therefore I cannot support FR.
  5. I support government provided health care, therefore I cannot support FR.
  6. I think we should all pay our "fair share" and so support higher taxes for the wealthy, therefore I cannot support FR.
  7. I think many times government can provide the best solution, therefore I cannot support FR.
  8. I think the constitution is fine, but when more government control is needed it just gets in the way, therefore I cannot support FR.
  9. I think all this talk about God-given rights is fundamentalist extremism, therefore I cannot support FR.
  10. I support MY free speech rights and FR won't allow me to post my support for any of the above, therefore I cannot support FR.
