Oh, its on. Finally.
I have never seen a candidate stoop as low as was seen last night in Alaskas senatorial debate
The sitting Senator also came out against Arizonas right to protect its borders. She calls for us to enforce the laws that are currently on the books, but doesnt seem to understand that that is precisely what Arizona is trying to do to protect itself because the federal government refuses to enforce our laws. Perhaps we shouldnt be surprised by her lackadaisical attitude to border security when we consider that she has repeatedly voted against funding a border fence and voted in favor of amnesty.
But perhaps the most shocking part of all in this debate was when the incumbent Senator used Joe Millers distinguished military service as a means to attack him. Joe Miller graduated from West Point, fought in Desert Storm, and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service to our country. I find it astonishing that a sitting U.S. Senator from Alaska would challenge the honor of a decorated combat veteran. Is it any wonder the audience later booed her when she again challenged Joe Millers honor?
Click the image below and watch to the end of the clip to hear Murkowski claim that Bronze Star winner Joe Miller isnt fit to lead, to the obvious displeasure of the audience. Palins smart to call attention to it to try to shift the momentum back towards him. Murkys been chipping away at his lead for weeks; maybe a little righteous public outrage on behalf of vets will steal some of those points back. What really intrigues me about this, though, is whether it portends a greater role for Palin in this last week of the race, whether in the form of campaigning aggressively for Miller or being attacked aggressively by Murkowski. My assumption all along has been that both Miller and Murky are nervous about injecting her into the race because the effect is too unpredictable; thats why, I take it, he tends to sidestep the inevitable questions asked about her in interviews by saying hes focused on the senate race.
But now that his lead over Murkowski has disappeared, maybe he figures that theres nothing to lose in coordinating with Palin to give her a bigger role in the race near the finish line. (I assume she checked with his camp before publishing todays Murkowski attack.) If shes still as popular back home as her supporters say, it can only help, no? Presumably Murky thinks so, as there havent been any anti-Miller ads mentioning Sarahcuda thus far.
Exit question via Ace: The supposedly scandalous incident for which Miller was disciplined at a prior job was
taking an online poll at work?
God bless Sarah. As usual, she is taking off the gloves and getting the job done.
But, where the hell is Miller? If this were a boxing match, and I were his corner man, I’d be screaming my lungs out for him to get in there and fight! Real men don’t sit on the stool and hope they’re still alive for the final bell. And they don’t let someone else go out and unload the haymakers for them.
Dammit, what’s with this guy? Either he goes on the offensive, or he’s dead meat.
It is a sad thing to see the crazy extents some ‘senior’
citizens will go to try and protect their free ride [aka being a do nothing traitor RINO Senator] Somebody should hook her up with Arlen Sphincter.
“Damnit, Maverick!” ENGAGE!!!!
Did you watch the clip and see Joe’s response?
I agree. Megyn Kelly said today that Miller needs to get out and put on a smile when in public. He hasn’t done so and he seems to be sulled up. He has got to do something. He should bring up the double standard the judge is doing to him and show he is a fighter. Palin can only do so much. He should say I will show my records if Obama shows his.
LOL! Well said.
I like my popcorn drenched in butter....
By writing a new state law? Sorry.... That's a false gambit. Granted that the government is failing to do so, but what, precisely, is wrong with enforcing the federal laws on the books? Is it just because Lisa Murkowski said so, rather than Joe Miller?
The author might want to consider what it is about Miller that Murkowski has been able to "chip away at his lead," to the point that it has "disappeared."
We can grant that Murkowski used a cheap shot. But Miller's clearly got problems of his own ... perhaps Miller's supporters would do well to deal with those, rather than whining about a cheap shot by an opponent (Amazingly, other candidates have to deal with those as well. Maybe even Murkowski does.)
Wow, she got ugly with him.
But can’t he drop the seedy beard? That’s really a bad beard. It looks like he forgot to shave.
They now have microwave caramel popcorn, which I add butter to. Yumm...
It’s a start, but not enough. Alaskans are a hearty breed. They like tough guys who can take a hit, smile through — and crush the guy (or, in this case, gal) who did it. It’s pass time for Joe to put on the gloves. We’re in bare knuckle territory.
An interesting question. What is preventing him from going on the offensive?
One would think a military guy would understand the value of getting and keeping the initiative; and he's evidently not doing that.
Which brings us to the author's rather Hillary-esque complaint about Murkowski's questioning Miller's ability to lead .... what if this failure to act, is an indication that she was right?
Doesn’t he remind you somewhat of Chuck Norris, though? IIRC, Chuck is an Air Force veteran.
That’s not what it means, I think.
Uh, no, son. I'm commenting on a rather whiny little article by Mr. Allahpundit, which really seems to be missing the forest for the trees.
Miller's quite obviously got a problem: "his lead over Murkowski has disappeared." That, even after beating her rather soundly in the primary.
I'm suggesting that Miller and his supporters would do well to address those problems, Palin's "nuclear attack" notwithstanding.
Or is mindless boosterism the only permissible opinion you'll ever accept?
I don't understand.
I see what you’re saying.
Ping!
