At a reception and dinner attended by fifty conservative movers and shakers, Sarah Palin implicitly compared herself to President Ronald Reagan. At the same time she suggested that she is mulling a Presidential run in 2012.
According to Politico:
"Speaking to a group of well-connected Republicans at a private dinner in Florida this week, Sarah Palin implicitly addressed questions about her own electability by noting that critics also said Ronald Reagan couldn't win in 1980, three attendees told POLITICO.
"Palin, at an event organized by the conservative magazine Newsmax, told the right-wing crowd that those who don't have the same convictions will always say a true conservative can't win.
"Pointing out that the knock on Reagan was that he was also too far to the right, the former Alaska governor repeatedly invoked the 40th president and conservative icon, at one point citing the quotation he was most fond of: that America is a "shining city on a hill."
"'I think she sees herself as heir to Reagan,' said one attendee."
While just about every Republican politician invokes Ronald Reagan, just as Democrats like to invoke John Kennedy or Franklin Roosevelt, Sarah Palin's implicit suggestion that she is the heir or even the second coming of Ronald Reagan would seem somewhat presumptuous, at least at first glance.
There are some parallels. Like Reagan, Palin was a state governor. Like Reagan, a large percentage of the liberal intelligentsia has labeled her, mistakenly, as somewhat dim. Like Reagan, she is beloved by many, hated by many more. Like Reagan, Palin is something of a media star.
There are differences, of course...

Okay. Without confirmation I’ll take your word for it.
Because Palin likes the LOST Treaty, I don’t trust her judgment on international affairs.
I do trust Bolton.
Somewhere in this thread, another poster described the futility of it all as "trying to reason with oxen or a runaway train" or something like that. Anyway, it sort of summed it up rather nicely.
Have a good day.
I am! You, too!
You were right. Bolton has always opposed the LOST.
He said in his confirmation hearings that he recognized
that pursuing LOST was a priority of the administration (Bush)
and in his post at the UN would support the administration’s
position (despite his personal opposition).
I can only hope that this is parody.
Because Todd and Sarah coerced them with threats?? Just kidding....sort of. I am wondering if she will receive, or is receiving, a pension from the state of Alaska even though she didn't complete one term.
Thank you for your kind reply, and your confirmation.
I still at the end couldn’t believe “he was for it before he was against it,” but I didn’t have evidence.
What you have shared with me sounds totally correct. That would square with Bolton’s beliefs. He definitely didn’t agree with Bush, but Bush was his boss.
Luckily Bush’s nutty idea wasn’t tested. Had it come up for a vote, Bolton could not have lived with himself. It would have been one of those big regrets in one’s life in view of the huge disaster LOST would have created for our country.
I like Sarah. She is a good person. But she is not the answer for our next president. Tragically, I see the Bushbots scrambling to their new messiah, Sarah. We now have the Sarahbots. These folks only think emotionally and not rationally.
Thank you again so much for your post to me.
Have wonderful evening.

Preach it!
Thanks very much for your insightful comments.
I was just a kid in 1956 but I remember the Dem convention well. I remember Adlai Stevenson was boring. LOL.
You have no idea what's going on with crazy people you cater to with your Sarah Palin mockering. Heck, even the DailyKos copies some of the posts from some of you here. Proud of yourselves?
DEATH THREATS ARE SERIOUS BUSINESS: Gov. Sarah Palin Visits San Diego (News Report)
I'm not so sure I'm the one having problems with reality.
I watched the democrat convention on black and white TV...LOL.
I remember singing:
“Whistle while you work, for Stevenson’s a jerk.
Eisenhower has the power, so whistle while you work.”
LOL.
I also wore an “I LIKE IKE” button in my 1952 school photo.
:)
Silly nilly...
I still remember:
“Nixon, Nixon he’s own man McGovern belongs in a garbage can.”
This is from elementary school.
own= our.
LOL. I never heard that.
I was good to vote by that time.
:)
And therein lies the whole basis of the article. Some liberal's opinion of what Sarah thinks of herself. Never mind that she never actually said that.
The fact that some anonymous liberal thinks that she thinks this, is reason enough to rush this gushingly putrid article to press.
Well, I have to agree with ya, pissant.
One thing that makes no sense to me is to knock Reagan when supporting Palin.
That's just dumb, in my book!
“One thing that makes no sense to me is to knock Reagan when supporting Palin.”
Well, gee, that would be like knocking Palin while supporting Reagan (who’s dead btw, guys...he can’t run this time).
“That’s just dumb, in my book!”
Your book could probably use a few more pages, and wider margins... :-)
