.................................................................

The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.

FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.

I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

Beautifully expressed, Calpernia, and thought-provoking.
Keep in mind, however, even those of us whose forebears arrived in the 1600's can relate longer but quite similar tales.
What is important and vital is our input into America at this precise moment in time.

It is "Our Turn" is handling well the torches that have been passed.

My oservation of you is you are a wonderful parent to your three children, and they will be superb human beings and Americans....

Your pizza thread had me craving Italian food all day. Wonder if any of those New York pizza joints that were mentioned do mail order.

You've made me miss your grandparents!! And I can smell the good food!

I've been on the phone!! -- and this morning my server was down. I'm better. My voice comes and goes depending on how much I talk.

I'm going to New Braunfels the 18th--to visit my college roomie. I got my weekends mixed up. She has a new dachshund puppy.

....Mama_Bear took a nice beginning page and make it beautiful. IMHO

Awwwww.....thank you, Amy. But you are giving me way too much credit. It was a collaborative effort, and I was happy to help. :-)

That was sure fast. There are already complaints about people not being able to find their polling places. Can you believe that?

They made no predictions in Ca until 8:01. LOL Good news from California!!

I don't know. I wasn't on the NY thread Free had mentioned. Otherwise I would be battling that New Jersey had the best pizza :))

Or a meatball!

We had one Italian family in my small hometown. The Chionsinis and their mother was a good cook. Don't ask me how, but they were Baptist. The sons were the best looking boys in high school.

The unicorn is the best! Good job, MamaBear!

Thanks Misty, but I can't take credit at all for the unicorn. If anyone should get credit, it is ST.LOUIE1. That was a graphic that he gave me to put at the top, he said he thought it would look nice up there. The design really was a collaborative effort between a few of us who wanted to see the Poetry thread re-opened.

The only part that I actually created is the prayer graphic and the poets oval graphic, I will take credit for them. ;-)

Yes, I heard that there are many poor, confused, disenfranchised elderly people wandering the streets looking for their polling places. Good grief, give me a break! LOL!

This is a red letter day, for sure. It was a long up-hill battle, but the taxpayers voices were heard....we have finally DUMPED DAVIS!!!

Now, LadyX wants to see if we can dump Boxer. And, why not Feinstein too? Wouldn't that be a coup???

There was a better turnout....that's good news. I have always believed that most of the good people in California have very conservative values. The problem is they don't go vote! Or, they are confused about what they are actually voting for! I know people who claim to be Democrat and vote Democrat but they don't have a clue why! worse than that....they agree with me on the issues! So how pathetic is that???? Maybe California voters are finally getting shaken to the core and they will take their responsibility more seriously. Let's hope so.
