i will be on foxnews at 12:30pm
Posted on 10/02/2003 4:48:37 PM PDT by WillowyDame
i was contacted by foxnews to be on at 12:30pm tomorrow to discuss the rush situation.
i know what to say about the espn situation but the drug one is the one that hit me hard.
this is a very sad day! i hope rush tells us something, anything soon; so that i can know what angle to use in defence of him.
one thing is for sure, if this is true, this will make his haters very very happy. they have been looking for something to bring him down with!
oh well i am hoping rush says IT AINT SO but if is, we should support him in getting the help he needs, not discard him over one bad deed.
we all make very poor choices sometimes..you just have to be willing to make changes and become a better person.

Go with your principles WD. Remind Rush about personal responsibility and the fact that we all make mistakes and the measure of the man or woman is how he or she handles those mistakes.

As for your actual question, what I want to know is under what circumstances did any alleged problems happen.
First, is it true?
Secondly, presuming (in a leap) that the abuse stories are true, how did it come to that?
Finally, how is Rush doing now?
Ultimately, it's not fair to judge him based on paid stories in the Nat'l Enquirer. What are the facts?
PS: I sure hope he survives this thing.

Rush has not denied this yet (that I have heard). If it were untrue he would have vigorously denied it and threatened a libel suit against the NE. Apparently he was in pain and he needed some pills. Like any free adult man he should have the right to purchase whatever medicine he deemed necessary for himself without groveling to a government-approved pill pusher.

I have seen you in action in the POD on AOL quite a few times. Well, at least there is no mention of Rush being linked to any 'Escort Services.'

I'll be watching. As far as his McNabb statement, although I don't agree with him in McNabbs case, I think if he had made that statement on his radio show and not on a TV sports show it wouldn't have gotten nearly the attention it has.
I just plain don't believe he is a drug addict and I won't believe it unless he admits to it.

You deny when you are ready, first you give your accuser all the rope they need to hang themself. Nice thing aobut having a fewbucks, he can hire some top notch council and detectives.
Give him time, remeber, he still has his show and about 20 million folks in his corner, the national inqierer and petey jennings and his gang of US haters may have bitten off more than theyc an chew this time.

I did just hear that Foxnews has discovered there is some real evidence being gathered against Rush.

Good luck to you!
I'll be on our local radio talk show tomorrow AM -- WKHM Jackson, Michigan -- to update Scott Clow on the AOL Rush Room status. I was on this morning and he was very interested in what the chatters had to say today, and asked me to call him back. I should be phoning in shortly after 10:00AM.

Frankly, I haven't heard or read enough to "beleive" this Enquirer story. The timing stinks. The old saying is - "if it looks like a duck, but smells like rotting fish"...no wait- wrong saying.
I was prescribed Vicoden last year for a painful complaint. I can see how easy it would be to abuse drugs, but if I had too much to lose (ie) kids in college, church, family all affected, as a rationale to not give in to temptation- it absolutely blows my mind how Rush- with "Talent on loan from God" and a very good sense of his own importance, could not also see the devastating effects of giving in to mind numbing non-reality.
In particular, when one is paid millions of dollars to do what one loves to do- why would anyone jeopardize that? This part of Rush's story rings especially true. My dad loved to fly. After retiring from the Air Force after 24 years, he would pay to rent a plane to fly until he found employment in his dream job- as a personal pilot. He gave up alcohol to be ready to fly at a moment's notice. So why would Rush jeopardize that- especially when so many lovely, single malt alternatives are so readily available...and legal.
No. Something is rotton in the Palm Beach branch of the State of Florida attorney's office. Here in Jax, democrat Harry Shorstein is the State's Attorney. I am assuming Palm Beach is even more left wing. I am going to wait for official statements from Charlie Christ's office.

I'm definitely a beer drinker. I enjoy wine, but I love beer.
By the way, the picture I posted is a hyperaccurate portrait of me.
