.................................................................
The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.
FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.
I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

I am fine, thanks. Busy with the "kids", always! I wish you could see them, Sassy! They are tooooo funny! Mom and my uncle sit in the same room to watch tv. She looks over at him and says, "Who are you?" He looks back and grumbles something in Norwegian. Then she says, "Are you my brother? How did you get to be so old?" LOL. It just goes on and on and on and has us laughing 99% of the time. :) Takes a lot of time, but I wouldn't change it for anything. PLUS! Bulletin! All three of the girls are expecting! Yikes!

Thank you, Archy. I use my list very rarely. I'm glad to be on it. Please feel free to ping me to anything you think deserves my attention, either list material or individual articles, as you see fit, and thanks.

Those are the best kind.....the ones that cause you to pull of the road and jot them down. Thanks so much for sharing that, and the meaning.

Hi Pippin! It's great to "see" you too. I have been lurking a lot, but I haven't had a lot of time to post. I will be posting when I can. Life has gotten in the way of my FR time... boo hoo..... sniff.....
I sure was thinking about you last week. Did you come through the storm ok?

Thank you for your good intentions and level-headed politics. Somehow, though, I just can't get excited about poetry.
Refrain from pinging me for poetry, please.

I could not find you on my ping list. Maybe you are on Misty's.
When you have time, drop by to see if there is a story or a joke that you would enjoy. Everyone is welcome here, even those who prefer to just lurk.
Thank you for notifying me about your desire not to be pinged.

A man decides he wants a hunting dog, so he goes to a shop in town and says,"Give me the best hunting dog you've got"
The owner takes him into the backroom. "This one here's the best one we've got"
"I want to see him in action," said the man.
The owner takes the man out in the field beside the shop. He let the dog loose into the field. "However many barks is how many rabbits is in that field"
The dog barked three times, and a few minutes later, brought back three rabbits.
'I'll take it," said the man.
The next day, he went hunting with the dog. He let him loose in the field. The dog barked four times, and brought back four rabbits.
Two days later, they went hunting again, this time in the woods. The man let the dog loose and waited. The dog barked six times, and brought back six rabbits.
The next weekend, they again went hunting in the woods. The man let the dog loose. To his surprise, the dog came back with a stick. The man cursed him, and threw the stick back in the woods. The dog went back in and came out with another stick.
The man was stumped, and went back to the shop where he bought the dog. He told the owner what happened.
"You idiot,"said the owner,"He was trying to tell you that there was more rabbits in those woods than you can shake a stick at!!!"

Thanks. Actually, the later poem is entered in a poetry contest and in theory I'm going to be published and am still in the running for a $10,000 prize, though I'll believe that when I see it.
One of these days I will publish a compilation of my works, but I need to add some breadth to my subject content. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed and thanks again for the welcome.

The ping to this sight was meant to be a one-time ping to let everyone know it is back. If you would like me to delete your name from the list, I will do so. It is used very rarely for special events. I will not be pinging everyone here after today. :)
