My husband made extra strong coffe this AM....it's his day off.

About that fire......here's the theory.

The house in all appearances was not a fire hazard.
Their home was immaculate....
...their garage was immaculate....
...their yard was trim & immaculate..

...This home was their main home.....but they have a small cabin in North Carolina where they spend most of their summer.

They had been in NC for a couple months or so, and for some reason, returned to Florida for a few days....and then, 3 weeks ago, returned to NC.

They turn their AC up very high.....but they installed a humidistat....

The fire marshal thinks that the AC got clogged or something like that.....some kind of buildup...

..and when the humidistat 'told' it to kick on, it simply stayed on and never stopped running.

I'm not sure I'm explaining this correctly....

..but it would appear the AC froze or something, which heated it and threw sparks or whatever, and then the flame & resultant fire was blown right into the attic....(where he had stored some things)....and engaged the attic, roof first....

....the roof is all but gone......the garage is gone......

...the owners came home Wednesday morning, and spent the day in tears, it was so bad.

I took them over some homemade chicken soup, and hugs....

All of you, check your AC units, heating units, and humidistat if you have one.

We tend to take too many things for granted!

....oh and btw.....the 6 loud pops we heard....the sound that woke us...

...was their golfcart batteries, exploding, one by one!

The golfcart melted to a puddle, an absolute puddle.

Talk about timbers shivering.....more trees falling around us due to the high winds. Fortunately, they are not near any of our buidings.

Actually it's pretty neat...you can see the upper level clouds moving at a moderate pace, with the sun barely peeking through..then you can see the outer-outer bands of Isabel churning right by at a much higher speed.

It is quite a surreal vision.

The air is warm..moist, and yet a slight chill to it due to the wind.

I took the dog out a little while ago and you could see the outer edges of Isabel here. Lines of high clouds across the sky that look like this: (((((

Pretty neat. We won't get any of Isabel's rain or wind, but those clouds told me how big the storm is.
