Thought you might be interested in this: a local UPN station broadcasts a high school football game every Friday night in real time (the cable access channel has always played tapes of the games after the fact.)
Tonight's game is taking place at the Catholic high school just down the road from here. I tuned in for a bit to see how it was going.........lo and behold, one of the commentators is Darren Sharper (Packer safety.:)

Prayers for son and friend and family. That's really tough.
Thanks for the report on kassie, Kay. Please send hugs from me next time you talk to her.
Congratulations on the job, John! When can we start calling you CHEF?!!!

Thanks.
Boychild just got home, and I told him the news. He took off immediately to (hopefully) kidnap another friend from work so they could go visit Jeff right away..........

Sounds good, but I have to go review my mechanics.....It's been a week since I had a game....

Evening everyone.
Got back online, checked my e-mail and found this note from the Chair:
Am ok. Took damage, but minor. One tree down, three shingles pulled, five others loose, one screen ripped off and damaged. No power since 10 last night, might be awhile.
Everyone in as good spirits as can be when you are watching tv by candlelight.
A lot of damage in the area. Clear winds were over 70. We were lucky.
Thanks for everyone's prayers.

When I get a chef position. ;>) For now, you can call me a line cook. Most people start as a prep cook, but I will get to skip that. Of course, Chef was very clear that he would be quickly firing people that can't make it. I'm not worried. There is going to be the opportunity for me to move up to sous chef pretty quickly, since this is a brand new organization.

I know you're proud of him, mom! He made the right decision without any hesitation. A sign of good upbringing ... :-)

Sorry to read that news, ML, and of course prayers offered for the young man and his family and friends like your son. I remember when you wrote of this before.
Way to go john! You've got some hard work, but exciting and much-desired work, ahead of you!

I'll take it.;^)

I hate breaking bad news to kids. When Trill's dad passed away, she couldn't tell bratling, and asked me to. Trill's dad and bratling were very close. That had to be one of the hardest things I've ever done. You have my sympathy and prayers.

Thanks, Molly!
On the "FReepers, please check in thread", I've noticed several from that area beginning to get their power back.
Chair ~~~ you remain in our prayers! Glad the damage wasn't worse.

He did the right thing, without you asking him to do it! I can feel that glow of pride you have,,,,, deservedly so.
Please keep us posted as to this situation.
