Two more reports regarding the Kobe Bryant case circulating among part of the national media were debunked Monday.
Media reports that the 19-year-old woman who Bryant allegedly assaulted received a ride home is not the case, sources said Monday. Reports that her clothing was torn are also untrue, sources also.
Sources told the Daily that the alleged victim managed to get herself home by 11:50 p.m., June 30, after ending the shift at the Lodge at Cordillera at around 11:10 p.m.
They also said that while her clothing was disheveled and showed signs that something had occurred, it wasn't torn or ripped, as some reports indicated.
"Some of the reports made it sound like something out of a bad movie," said one source. "It wasn't like that."
The reports are part of a larger set of rumors and gossip that have been circulating across the country about the case. Among them:
- That the alleged victim was in the room two hours. It was only about 20 minutes.
- When she came down, she was hysterical. She was not. Sources said she was in a stupor and a state of shock.
- A few days before the incident, the alleged victim had accused another hotel worker of sexual harassment, getting him fired. Not true, said the man who was terminated. It was not the alleged victim.
Cameras in court
Eagle County Judge Fred Gannett ruled that not only is Bryant required to appear at 4 p.m. Wednesday, he also ruled Monday that there will be cameras in the courtroom.
Gannett denied a motion by Bryant's attorneys asking Gannett to reconsider an earlier order allowing one video camera and one still camera in the courtroom while Bryant is advised of the charges against him, and also advised of his rights.

You're aren't overlooking the fact that lying and mental illness aren't quite the same, are you? Or are you saying lying is eqivalent of a mental illness? No, I thought I had been pretty clear. Some people with mental illnesses have problems telling what is real from what is not; they are delusional. Some people with mental illnesses have difficulty telling right from wrong, and will therefore not realize it is wrong to lie. Many people with mental illnesses do not suffer from either of these problems: depression and anxiety disorder both come to mind as examples.
If the victim has a delusional disorder, or some form of personality disorder, that would make her statements suspect, in my opinion, because it might mean she is delusional or cannot tell right from wrong. If she suffers from depression or anxiety, I would not be inclined to attach any significance to that in evaluating her honesty.
Obviously, this is not a complete catalogue of mental illnesses; there are entire volumes on the subject. My main point is that simply screaming "suicide attempt!" or "mental illness!" does not necessarily mean that her testimony cannot be trusted to be both accurate and truthful.

And you said you felt guilty the next day which meant that you weren't in a state of mind when you drove to feel that way then thereby indicating that you indeed had a buzz. I remember my rebuttle to you shut you up in a hurry so maybe you shouldn't have reopened this flame war. Liar. Find for me where I said I felt guilty? I ceased posting on that thread because your claims (like the one above) were so ignorant they were pointless to debate. I have never been drunk, so how could I have felt guilty about it?

And actually I'm sitting in a 3600 square foot house as I type -- and there are people here who can back that up because they've actually been here -- so you could say that at some point in my life I've been pretty damn successful using my brain. LOL
If you say so. Or are you planning to post some of the email addies for the people who can back you up? Probably not. I have you pegged more for the cheap "toss off" lines.

Oh please. Breathless Rita in her haste to be first with "breaking news" neglected authenticate her "source."
Rita is not the only runner in the ratings race, but this time, she was WRONG!

Yes, Randy Wyrick has reported differently than Rita Cosby. At the present time, I see no way to determine which of them is reporting more accurately. Do you?

Well, since not only Randy Wyrick but also ESPN reported that there were no torn clothes and that the bellman didn't drive her home, both of which Cosby claimed, I can only assume that either the bellman, through his sources, lied to Rita, or he lied to Wyrick and ESPN, or Rita was wrong.

For some reason you guys don't seem to be willing to accept the fact that almost any statement YOU make about Kobe Bryant can be turned around on the accuser.Funny, it seems to me more like a case of your unwillingness to accept that many of the statements you are making about the accuser can be turned around on Kobe Bryant. Perhaps you are letting your emotional defense of Kobe, who already has the presumption of innocence, cloud your "logic."
To: nyconse
Maybe there is more to the connection between the Westerfield defenders and the Kobots. One unusual fact about Westerfield was that he had never been known to be in any trouble before. This does not mean he had never done anything bad before, but he certainly didn't ever get caught before. This sounds a lot like the current Kobe situation, and may be why people are doing a lot of presuming innocent.

Doesn't look good for the accuser and the DA at all.
Never was good for Kobe because he ruined his marriage with her help and the loss of endorsements will lower his living standard by quite a few pegs.

Are you just pretending that Rita never said those things? Is it just more convenient to forget that SHE falsely reported torn clothes, a ride home, her confiding in him, AND that she talked to him personally? Are you saying Rita did not talk to the bellman personally?
