Two more reports regarding the Kobe Bryant case circulating among part of the national media were debunked Monday.
Media reports that the 19-year-old woman who Bryant allegedly assaulted received a ride home is not the case, sources said Monday. Reports that her clothing was torn are also untrue, sources also.
Sources told the Daily that the alleged victim managed to get herself home by 11:50 p.m., June 30, after ending the shift at the Lodge at Cordillera at around 11:10 p.m.
They also said that while her clothing was disheveled and showed signs that something had occurred, it wasn't torn or ripped, as some reports indicated.
"Some of the reports made it sound like something out of a bad movie," said one source. "It wasn't like that."
The reports are part of a larger set of rumors and gossip that have been circulating across the country about the case. Among them:
- That the alleged victim was in the room two hours. It was only about 20 minutes.
- When she came down, she was hysterical. She was not. Sources said she was in a stupor and a state of shock.
- A few days before the incident, the alleged victim had accused another hotel worker of sexual harassment, getting him fired. Not true, said the man who was terminated. It was not the alleged victim.
Cameras in court
Eagle County Judge Fred Gannett ruled that not only is Bryant required to appear at 4 p.m. Wednesday, he also ruled Monday that there will be cameras in the courtroom.
Gannett denied a motion by Bryant's attorneys asking Gannett to reconsider an earlier order allowing one video camera and one still camera in the courtroom while Bryant is advised of the charges against him, and also advised of his rights.
I'm not at all convinced that it is relevant. It would depend on the reason for the alleged suicide attempts. If the accuser has a history of delusions, or a personality disorder that makes her prone to lie, then maybe. If it was a history of depression, or a high stress situation, probably not.
Attempted suicide, in and of itself, does nothing to impeach a witness's credibility, imho, unless the suicide attempt is directly connected to the particular event at trial.
Oh, just wait til you tell him that you've never been a drunk driver. He thinks everyone is because he was.
No, he said that the alleged victim defenders would probably leave the forum.
Actually, I believe people just stopped posting on these threads because they got tired of you all asking the same questions over and over and -- even when given an answer -- asking it again.
Like why are some anonymous sources better than others. Yeah those are hard questions for those who believe some hearsay and not others to answer. lol
I'm sure you'd all be pleased if nobody came on these threads to point out any statement, even the rumors, that MIGHT shine some light on this case that doesn't trash Kobe Bryant. Then you could all just sit around and talk about how moral you all are and especially how non- judgmental and fair you are.
I would be pleased if the one-sided trashing against the alleged victim using anonymous sources didn't occur, yes you're right. I think it's a shame for anyone who calls themselves a conservative to trash the alleged victim with nothing but anonymous rumors. And you can't say you're just shedding light either. If you knew nothing of baseball and I were to tell you about two players named Sosa and McGwire and the only information I gave was was that Sosa hit 60s homer in a season for 4 seasons straight and Mcgwire led his tem in strikeouts his last season and had to quit because of low production that wouldn't be an accurate portrayal of McGwire's career, winning 4 World Series and the homer title a few years and even setting a record for homers. While what I said wouldn't be a lie, it would be deceptive. So far it's been all negativity about the alleged victim from you guys and that's not right for a conservative who should be concerned about justice.
I can't believe I have to post your words to prove it to you. Here's what you said in post #227:
I'll ask you the same thing; how will you feel when it comes out in court that she's lying? Will you feel good about smearing a man because of a girl who has emotional problems?
You said "when", not "if". That is not impartial. Sheesh!
But, of course, this is another DIRECT QUESTION and Howlin never answers direct questions, she just demands that others do.
Thanks for the defense but it's just how Howlin operates. She can't discuss anything without personal attacks. ("He" by the way...:^)...)
Quite an impartial statement there, eh sink?
And this (if proven to be true) is relevant to her veracity in claiming to have been raped several months later, because .....
Sounds like your sources are the worst of all.
Or, maybe there's a lesson in your obvious slip up about declaring guilt or innocence based on early confusion and limited information.
BTW, just because someone attempts suicide doesn't mean they might not have been raped. Last time I checked, the two situations aren't mutually exclusive. And, someone who is depressed just might be more susceptible to falling for a "line" from a celebrity that got her into a situation she couldn't get out of. The suicide attempts may work more in her favor than in Kobe's defense. Unless, that is, you've already decided he is innocent.
If you want to look for extraneous "elephants," why not toss out some theories about the 911 calls to Kobe's home?
Oh yeah, you were the one that said you would never associaye with anyone who ever drove intoxicated. Then you fianally admitted that you had done the same. At least you're relatively honest, if not consistent. lol
