The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

[yawn] Good morning all! (At least it will be when I wake up.) About to head off to work for a training class today.
2J: Thanks for the pics! I'm going to try to get some more stuff posted to the Chaplain site later this week - some more of your update posts from the old hole, some info on our knife project, and a few more pics.

Hi all! will check in intermittently, as papers on the house are now OFFICIAL...we are looking at moving in mid October...
Have I told y'all that yet???
probably have...
I'm still trying to clear the head this morning.
So many doing such wonderful things...
Li'lfreeper, what are you trying to publish???
I wish I could get support from my family in homeschooling. No one seems to believe I am capable of doing it. They'd rather pay money to the private school. Not griping about that, as the private school is one of the best in the area. Its just as well, I think, since we are moving so we can be in a better neighborhood (trust me, the one we are in now is going down hill FAST), I will have to get a part-time job.
Wordsmith - How about we make the thread go chapter by chapter on the O'Brien Books, starting with Master and Commander? That way, we can stumble through naval jargon together and perhaps hash out some of the more historical references. I hate having to put down a book in order to look up a term, but if there is someone else to discuss it with, it makes it worth the effort.
Anyone else interested? And will JimRob allow us to do so?

she does not proofread my posts. ;^) maybe you should show her this one...you'll score big points!
Hearing the way g'nad speaks of you inspired me.
Yea...I'm not buying it. :-)
He can lay it on pretty thick when he wants...he used to write poems to me in our younger days and really has a way with words. We've been married for more than 15 years now and I know he loves me. It's nice though to hear from others that he still thinks "that way" about me. :-)

I'm not going to complain about rain, that's for sure! We had drought conditions here for several years. The year I bought my house (two years ago) I stayed with my parents all summer and their well had run dry. Really learned to appreciate water!
Our water table is still low, but it has been relatively wet this year (not super wet, but not dry either), which is a very good thing.

Good morning, mrsnad! I'll be praying for you guys re: the homeschooling decision. It's true it isn't easy with a little one demanding your attention, but it can be done. I'm the oldest of eight, and my parents homeschooled all of us. I remember there being a few very challenging years when certain siblings were babies...or going through the terrible twos...or threes...I think a few never grew out of the terrible phase! ;)

I don't have to worry about well water where I live now, but the clay soil is a big concern. I have bedrock 24inches down so foundation trouble should be low probability.
My backyard fence is leaning about 6" however. When I have to work on it, I'll do something more substatial than the builder did.

Mrsnad, thanks for the ping. :-) I have noticed in all my years that sometimes it sure does a mrs good to find out the sweet things her mr says about her to others. Those kind of words are usually said out of your hearing and they are the absolute BEST!!!

I just got them. Yep, they are great. I'm disappointed, though, because it doesn't sound as though the Chaplain received my care package yet. :( I would hate for them to leave before he gets it. I wonder if the new chaplain can keep it or if it will have to be forwarded.
