g'nad...I know this might be a stupid question...but why are some in shorts and some in uniform? Are some on duty and the others off-off duty?

chapel is probably an informal setting... come as your are...

Marines would never invest the time, money, or energy to build this kinda chapel... it's wonderful, don't get me wrong... but the Corps kicks down the door and kills everyone inside... then leaves... then the Army moves in with their lazyboys and bigscreen TVs... it's not wrong, just a different mindset... the Marines are expeditionary... we know we won't be in one place long enuff to pretty it up... besides... we ain't got the cash... when the Army rolls in, it's fer an extended period...

this does not apply to the Marine Air Wing... they live large...

The main thing I wondered about was the guy with the beard sitting in the back. Can't see him that well in the little picture, but certainly could in my copy.
