I've read the fun facts about some of what they prescribe, and it honestly shouldn't be given to the bipolar or the schizophrenic.
Like I said, xanax and docepin run the risk of permanent sterility.
And Paxil has the fun side effect of possibly bringing out latent psychosis.
And prozac just plain is bad news.
My grandmother is possibly BOTH bipolar and schizo.
Violently so.
I tend to be reclusive and 'hermit like'.
That is probably the only plus side to it.
Besides the sense of humor.
And the talent with drawing.
Heard a rumor somewhere that bipolars usually have an unusually high blood iron content.
When I had mono, they did a blood iron test and said test has a drop of blood dripped into a certin fluid.
(Can't recall which one at the moment.)
They time the rate of 'sink' of the blood drop in the fluid.
That corresponds to a certain iron level.
Mine sank like a stone.
Fast enough that the nurse had difficulty timing it.
The look on her face was priceless as she watched it sink, looked at her stopwatch, and looked at me.

Not sure about this one, but those with high IQ's know there is something wrong in their heads, and actively hide it. I'm no expert, but hiding it doesn't help. I would think a person is far better off reconizing what is wrong, confronting it and working from there to help get through the bad times.
As for what meds work and don't work, imo if a person is in tune with what's going on with their mind and body, they maybe they can help the doctors prescribe what works .. but the hard put is finding a doctor that actually listens to you
If all that fails .. one can just ask Swervie .. he knows all about chemicals .. *L*

Drawing does help some. I have a few Aunts that were artists .. We just blamed all their craziness on being an O'Donnell ..
It's a long story .. you would have to know my mothers family .. they aren't wrapped to tight .. But the up side is that I have a few nice paintings in the house I didn't have to pay for .. LOL

I also think & feel that suicide is for cowards and weak people. Says alot about my 'mores'.You think that only cuz you weren't married to my ex...

I know there is something wrong.
(Exacty: Bipolar.)
I have to face it everytime I deal with my eyes being open.
*chuckle*
Unfortunately, the IQ helps me 'operate normally' without 'detection'.
That feels false to me.
But I guess it's one of those unavoidable things.
The docs in my area are more nuts than I am, unfortunately.
That, and they have some 'agreements' to 'push' certain meds.
So my level of trust with docs is as low as it can be.
I have art talent on both sides of the family.
One being my grandmother who is nuts.
Grandma did those illustrations for newspaper ads back when those were done by hand.
Guess I'm screwed all around! *chuckle*

Sent gran some scans of some of the drawings.
There's one that is almost a self portrait.
She knows which one it is.

Why am I thinking about the 'landshark' bit on SNL?Cuz you're crazy? Seriesly, I don't know. I, ummm, never actually saw the landshark bit on SNL.
My ex did say I free associate better than anyone she's met outside an institution.
She neglected to tell me that her institutional experence wasn't limited to WORKING in an institution. We met in Mensa, your comments on concealing one's mental status and IQ are spot on...
To: westmex
Well, the northeast is about to end up underwater if it keeps raining.
