I don't smoke at all. I wouldn't be able to lurk through the woods or wander the night at all if I did. / joke.

Caffine.

You do have to wean off... my close friend was taking way too much of the stuff and quit cold turkey, could not sleep at all, and shot himself 3 days later. Four years later, he only takes xanax sometimes - to fall asleep. I wish there was better help for him.

Well, I will admit that I am a low order bipolar.
(Just means that I'm not crazy enough to admit to the luny bin, but not sane enough to be listed as normal. But then again, most artists aren't sane anyway.)

Anti-depressants and bipolars don't mix at all.
Rather than continue on xanax or docepin with it's accompanying effects, I dropped off of it cold turkey.
And was better off for it too.
(I also think & feel that suicide is for cowards and weak people. Says alot about my 'mores'.)

Unfortunately, there truly isn't any help for people like me.
Anti-pychotics only really go so far, and one needs to make guesses about which ones to use. (The odd reaction to meds deal.)
That, and they STILL don't know for sure what xanax, docepin, paxil, and prozac really do. Kinda like Russian Roulette with the brain chemistry.

I don't have an answer for your friend, but I do know from experience and reading info that xanax isn't a good idea.
(Unless one doesn't want to have kids, doesn't mind the leathery tongue and has no problem with zombie like fugue states at times... xanax and docepin can make one permanently sterile, not something they tell you outright either. Paxil can bring out 'latent psychosis'. That's in it's own literature on it, but it's buried in the small print.)

Hi there all...weather here out in the great Pacific Northwest, was gorgeous yesterday, gorgeous today, and promises to be gorgeous for the rest of the week....sunny skies, warm temps, gentle breezes, and no rain...what more can one ask for....time to be out of doors, and enjoying the grand weather while we have it...we do have grey and dismal skies most of the year, but when summertime comes to us, its wonderful, and it appears, that summer has arrived...

Dom does not have to work overtime today, so I am just going to let him sleep, until he wakes up all on his own...he needs to rest up for his 'rock and roll' weekend, up in Tacoma, this coming weekend...hes going to see 'Three Dog Night' up in Tacoma, at the Emerald Queen Casino, on Saturday..then on Sunday, he will go over to the AmVets, and sit around and drink and shoot the breeze, with all the old vets over there...Altho I am invited, I have declined seeing old rockers, and old vets...I will stay home and shop on ebay, and hang out on FR...

So we both get to do, those things we like to do...that keeps us both happy...

That's what Mike and I do .. it's a win win for both of us ..

Speaking of shopping, I need to order a new supply of keyboards .. I really need to stop spilling my coffee, the one I'm using is ok, but certain keys are still stiff and hard to type

Even from the earliest days of our marriage, we did some things together, but also did things separate from each other....and when we had the boys, if I wanted to take the boys to a museum or the zoo, but Dom had some sports he wanted to watch on TV, then I just took the boys myself, and he stayed home...no big deal...on the other hand, he was always taking the boys to sports events, and to the movies, two places I really dont like to go...so he took the boys with him, and I stayed home, or did what I wanted...yet, we did many things together as a 'whole' family...

Now that we have been married for so many years, and no longer have the kids at home, we are still like this...Dom does what he wants, I do what I want, and often we do things together...that keeps us both happy...

Dom gets lots of vacation time from the Post office, and always sets aside 3 weeks a year for him and I do to something together...but his other two weeks, he uses to go back to Chicago, to see his friends, or to Florida to see other of his friends, and some of his relatives...I am always invited to go, but always decline, prefering to spend my time here....

But Dom has lots of friends back in Chicago, whose wives are appalled that I let Dom come back to Chicago all on his own...good grief, what is wrong with them?...many of Doms friends would like to come out here to Washington for a visit, but lots of their wives dont want to make the trip, and dont want their husbands to go on their own...one of them did manage to pry himself away from his wifes clutches for a few days, and visit, and he sure wished he could have stayed longer....another friend who has been long divorced has been out here many times, but I know if he was still married, his wife would have had a fit if he came out here on his own...

Even for their annual Memorial Day picnics, the guys all go, but at least 1/2 of their wives stay home...and those guys have to leave the picnic early, so their wives wont crab...I dont get it...why are some women so upset, ,when their husband want to do things on their own?...

To me, life is all too short(especially now, since I am almost 60)....why not be happy, and be happy when your spouse is happy, even if sometimes that happiness is found by being apart for a time, rather than together all the time...

Westy when you get here today, check out the eagles site...our Kent nest appears to be abandoned...no chieks, no eggs, no eagles, at least they were not there when I just last checked...

But they have a new camera set up somewhere and are calling it the Puget Sound cam, and when I just checked it had an adult Eagle standing on the edge of a nest, and a baby in the nest....

So you might want to check it out...

Interesting article Darksheare ..

Personally I don't trust doctors .. especially after witnessing some of the stuff my mom went through after my dad died.

Dad suffered 5 years with cancer and was in and out of the hospital alot .. Mom had to take care of him and 6 kids .. two years before dad died she was pregnant with my youngest sister .. that is a whole different story and what the doctors told her at the time that could happen to my sister .. she only gain like 15 pounds during that time.

All during this time, she would have her mood swings, but they were nothing like after dad died and she went into a depression .. the doctors said she was a manic depressive and put her on meds .. I'm not sure what meds they gave her at the time, I was only 8 yrs old at the time and the adults didn't think I needed to know what was going on .. but IMO whatever they were, they did NOT help and let's just say it was not a fun time around my house during that time. The slightest things would set mom off and she would just beat the day lights out of me. I have older siblings, but that is a long story and they weren't much help

Well .. another long story, but they ended up puting mom in the hospital and gave her electric shock treatments to snap her out of the manic Depression. Not sure if that is what worked or it was the fear of going thru that again, but things around the house did get better and after some time, mom stopped taking those meds.

I totally agree Mom .. Sounds like you and Dom share the same kind of life Mike and I do. He gets alot of vacation also .. some of it he uses for racing anf hunting and the rest he uses with me and the kids.

As for why some wives are crabby and don't like their hubbies to spend time without them, I have no idea. We have this friend, and I'll never forget his now ex-wife getting all over his case once because he left the party to go to the bathroom.

Ouch.
I know what's wrong with me.
I think it's inherited from my grandmother.
While I don't get that bad, I fear that it will get worse as time goes on, as it did for my grandmother.
I DO have mood swings that are 'impressive' to say the least.
It's like having two people in your head, one always in frenetic frantic activity.
The other is sullen, angry, and depressed all the time.
Oh, and as an added bonus, they're both you.

Gets confusing at times since you're not even sure who you yourself will be dealing with at any given moment.
Certain activities do help, like art.
Being in the military did help in exorcising the demons.
I was actually calmer and more focused then.
Had a direction then. *Wry smile*

Bipolar disorder (Manic depression) isn't something to play with.
I know that.
Meds also don't seem to help much.
So I honestly DO try to avoid people for obvious reasons.
Better off that way as well.

Not sure about this one, but those with high IQ's know there is something wrong in their heads, and actively hide it.
Being smart has a downside to it then.
It makes it difficult to diagnose and work on what's wrong.

Hopefully, things won't get as bad as I fear.
That's what I'm hoping for, at the same time as preparing for the worst.
*Head scratch*
On a silly note: I get to be my own guinea pig!

Just wish some of it would sell, that would be nice.

I know what's wrong with me. I think it's inherited from my grandmother.

I inhereted mine from my fathers side of the family. We all suffer from Clinical Depression and an occasional case of crankiness and tendency to shoot people.
I know they get a lot worse as we get older.
Fortunately some of the new antidepresants seem to help a lot.
