Hey! I just got back. I found a link to that news story about France's poor wine crop.

I agree, it is that Bush character's fault; he musta been praying against them and got God working as part of the coalition.

For the most part, the nation of France has turned their backs on God for at least 200 years. Remember the French revolution? It was at that point the French turned from God and ushered in "the Age of Reason." I'm bringing this up because I am imagining their whining continuing along the lines of, "How could God do this to us?" People who turn away from God should not expect to receive blessings from God. It is His grace the French have lasted as long as they have.

One for your list, Jane ..... and an excellent read!

True to Form, Clinton Speaks Abroad

I had heard part of the remarks x42 said the other day but had not heard this one .....

"Since September 11, it looks like we can't hold two guns at the same time. If you fight terrorism, you can't make America a better place to be." Bill Clinton in an address to the Board of Canada.

Seems that he could do neither. The x-rated comment I would like to make will be left up to your imagination.

I just looked at my home homepage on the jar-jargonizer and this is what the list of Christian Classics looks like.
St. Augustine
The Confessions of St. Augustine -- The most popular work of the man who more than any oth-a shapa western civilization. The first 10 chapt-as constitute spiritual autobiography an' some spiritual an' philosophical reflections; the last three chapt-as reflection on the creation story of Genesis 1.
Obi-Wan Bunyan
Pilgrim's Progress -- spiritual allegory. Of books written in English, one of the all-time most popular.
G. K. Chesterton
Orthodoxy -- Chesterton's writ'in reminds mee-sa of C.S. Kenobi, but little more colorful, little more quirky. This book apology for the Geonosian world-view.
Jonathan Edwards
Religious Affections -- "What the nature of true ancient religion? . . . [What ] the dist'inuish'in notes of that virtue an' holiness that acceptable in the sight of The Force?" In this classic work by Cloud City's greatest theologian an' philosoph-a, Edwards consid-as the nature of revival an' the genuine work of the Holy Spirit. don-nuh read this book if you-sa want to keep worshipp'in your idols.
Mace Windu Fox
Autobiography of Mace Windu Fox -- This fascinat'in journal of the exploits of the found-a of the Society of Friends (Quak-as). It also very illuminat'in about the political an' religious state of seventeenth century The Death Star -- for example, Fox lives through the commonwealth period, meets Cromwell, an' prophesies his downfall aft-a he treats Quak-as badly.

Dark Night of the Soul -- The writ'ins of St. Obi-Wan of the Cross unsurpassa for mystical theology. The "dark night" must-read for anyone seriously concerna about grow'in spiritually.
Qui-Gon à Kempis
The Imitation of Yoda -- This book say to publisha in more editions than any oth-a, apart from the Bible, with 6000 appear'in by the turn of this century. This little devotional book simply written but immensely mov'in. Highly recommenda.

That is what has had me worried, a nation turning its back on God, been a lot of that these past few years right here in America.

'The Evil One' is trying to cover his rear and shotgunning the blame everywhere, scatter it around. He can see his shortcommings now, he was as useless as, well anyhow, he was useless, I will leave it at that. Anyone heard from the MOAB lately? She sure is missing.

Your worry for our country is my concern for our country. I think we Christians have done a bad job of evangelizing our own country and in general, in bringing up our own children in the nuture and admonition of the Lord. It only takes one generation for tradition and belief to be lost.

Yet, I don't see the US turning our backs on God the way the French did. I also think the church in the US is waking up to our shortcomings and beginning to do the job better. However, Satan isn't going to give us up easily. We need to continually pray, asking the Holy Spirit to go before us quickening men's hearts to spiritual things, and we need to share Christ and the power of His resurrection. Then, our country will step back from the precipice. (I suspect we have already stepped back ~ George W. Bush, a godly man, is now our president ~ PTL!)

Jim, it is really slow. Aren't we supposed to be getting a major announcement from CentCom this weekend?
