Survivor 6: The Amazon
Posted on 02/11/2003 4:56:24 AM PST by cuz_it_aint_their_money
Well, Im back.
Sort of.
My wife, (the lovely and gracious, Mrs. CUZ) has laid down the law!
Youre spending too much time FReeping and not enough time paying attention to me!
Women! Go figure!
Anyway, my FReeping has been severely curtailed, so Ill start this thread, and from time to time, spout off with my two cents worth, but someone else will have to maintain the ping list and post weekly recaps (If they feel so inclined).
If someone wants the ping list, FReepmail me and Ill send it to them.
Till then,
Enjoy,

Rob is going to find it really tough to pick up 4 jury votes.

Well, I was surfing around the site, and found the thread about Survivor. I'm still relatively new here, so I'm sorry if I'm a little behind.
The ONLY show I watch is Law And Order. To me, it's the only thing worth watching on TV. Well, I also watch Street Smarts which is hilarious! I also watch ESPN, ESPN Classic.
As far as movies go, I like TCM, the old movies. My favorite movies are:
1.The Wizard Of Oz--1939 version
1a. Singin In The Rain
I really like the old time musicals. I did like Galaxy Quest, Mr. Holland's Opus, The Prince Of Egypt, and others. Hope that all made sense.

Cuz, you are right again! It was a good episode, and the whole game has changed. Loved the look on the Boobsey Twin's faces when Alex got the boot. They will be next. Let's see......how will the new alliance decide which one goes first, will they use buoyancy or skankiness as a guide??? Either way, I'm happy that Alex's final four has been shot to h*ll and Butch and Kristy now have a chance at a million bucks. I am actually grateful to Rob. Pinch me!! It will be fun to watch the Twins struggle to win immunity next week! See you all then.

"Christy has yet to do anything to bring discredit or shame to her gender."
That may be, but she really insulted me during her letter thing last night. The implication being that "hearing" people are not to be trusted -- deaf people can only trust deaf people. I've had exposure to the deaf culture and believe me, there are some real bigots out there. (See HTB's post #477.) I've even seen deaf parents argue that their deaf child should not have implants that would allow them to hear because they don't want their child to be like "hearing" people. It's really sick.
"Rob is no dummy."
I don't know about that. He thinks he's being really smart, but you've got to play EVERY angle to win Survivor. Rob's victorys to this point have cost him any chance of winning a vote should he make it to the final two. I can't see Rob winning a vote over ANY of the others that are left.
Cuz, you really predicted well.

"I have never, and WILL NEVER watch any of this stupid Survivor show."
Well, I went back through the archives and found a post I made maybe two years ago explaining why I think Survivor IS worth watching and why I think it rates above all the other so-called reality shows. FWIW.
Survivor is microcosm of our society. I find it fascinating to see how the Gen-Xers deal with the boomers, the professionals with the blue collars, the libs vs the conservatives. The bug eating stuff is dumb but is really the smallest part of the show. It's seeing how a bunch of young people who won't do any work gang up on productive middle-agers and still lose that rocks my boat. Basically, you can see a little bit of almost every topic addressed on FR played out in some form or fashion during these shows. And just for the record, it's the lack of all these things that make all those other "reality" shows just plain dumb.
To: Martus
You like Law & Order? I would strongly recommend the other Franchise show on TV: CSI. Great show. Check it out. Monday is CSI:Miami and Wednesday is the original CSI. You can catch CSI (First Season) on USA.

The final four should be Rob, Matt, Butch, and Christy with Rob and Matt pitted against Butch and Christy. That very well could be the final four, but, Matt & Butch have spent all those hours together fishing, so they might have some trust built up. Matt knows that Rob is an Weasel of Mass Deception. At any rate, it was great seeing Alex get the boot.

Agreed. Rob misplayed his hand last night with Matt. Instead of coming clean with him he should have said-"OK. my plan is working perfect. The two of us now control the game. We pick off the trio of Alex and the bimbos in no particular order with Butch and Christy's help. Then we'll get Butch and Christy."
Rob is now screwed-even if he gets to the final two (very doubtful-I think he's the next to go) he'll never get the million. (Although I would not mind 100K).
I think Christy will win. I had a sneaking suspicion that she might from the start. If she does it will reek of a setup from CBS.

Well, we had the gay guy, then the white woman, then the young straight white guy, followed by the black woman, then the 30 something, softcore porn actor...its about time for a handcapped person to win...either that or an old guy...

By the way, I've seen spoilers that pretty much tell who the final four, then the final two are. If you want to know, FReepmail me.

Thanks, but I rather be surprised.

Good call on Rob. Loved the evil smiling grin he had on his face when Alex got voted out.
The boobie girls are shocked their plan has fallen apart. Watch the bimbettes try to work Christy back to them for the next vote.
My impression of Rob just went up. I also think he knows how to play the game well. He needs to win a couple immunities though.

"That may be, but she really insulted me during her letter thing last night. The implication being that "hearing" people are not to be trusted -- " Christy clearly was a class act when she got no food at the auction, paid $340.00 for her letter and then Jenna that had bought food got to buy her letter for a much less price than Christy paid ... only with her (Christy) permission ... when asked to okay it. She was generous, indeed.
Then when she (Christy) went off to read it; what she said is ... how much she needed to know there are people in the world that she could trust that loved her; and it was sure she couldn't trust the participants in the game with her. That is correct she can't.
When the women were separate from the men, they were not nice to Christy ... pretty much ignoring her and speaking in the dark where Christy could not see and basically avoiding her.
The men have been nicer to Christy. Say what you want to she is at a disadvantage in communication, which is a critical part of the show.
Which among us has been in her shoes? Look how opinionated you are about deaf people being bigots. No wonder she is untrusting.
To: Countyline
Now wait just a dag gone minute. . .
"Say what you want to she is at a disadvantage in communication, which is a critical part of the show."
No kidding. Here's the thing; she said she wanted to be on Survivor bec she wanted to show that people like her are just like other people (or something to that effect), but then she started complaining from the get-go that people weren't giving her special consideration. Well, you can't have it both ways. And before you get any ideas, I'll tell you flat out that I think the women were mean to her and I would have been much more considerate, but you won't win my respect by playing it both ways.
"Look how opinionated you are about deaf people being bigots."
That's way out of line. I said that "there are some real bigots out there." I did NOT even imply that deaf people are all, or even mostly, bigots.
You owe me an apology, dude (or dudette).

OK, my contact got back to me and here is the answer. (For what it's worth)
CBS gives two tickets to each Survivor website. Usually the mods/admins use them, of course. Otherwise, the best bet is to contact someone in the media and have them contact a PR person at CBS. It's very hard to get tickets. At the last finale, only 14 fans got tickets out of about 500 people.
Keep in mind, this was for the LA show which was indoors.
Don't know if tickets will be so tight for a Central Park Show.
In either case, you need to contact a PR person at CBS for tickets.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate you looking into that for me.
