The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

ksen, I posed a question Friday about whether the story on the castle had changed.... Is there a different story for when the money needs to be sent and how much? - I thought you mentioned something like that. I haven't sent my own yet, and was about to get organized and ping the group. - Do we need to send $$$ now?

Back later. Got to go to a luncheon for a retiring co-worker...she's 51 and is retiring...

I don't know if she has enough actual time in the system to do so or if she's just calling it quits. Her husband retired last year (after 30 years in the system) and they just built a house on the "Rivah" (that's a Virginia tidewater term...) We hope to have a Hohse (long o) on the Rivah someday...

Yes, I do not need any money right now. I sent in the application a while ago and I haven't heard back from the agency yet.

In the paperwork I signed, one of the statements said that the balance of the rent needs to be in by 15 days of the check-in date. So I don't think anyone needs to send in the balance of the rent for a while yet.

As far as the security deposit goes I will let you know as soon as I find out when we will need it by.

After a weekend of wierdness, my computer is finally loading stuff so I saw your MOJAM pics with g'nad! Good lookin fellas you two are! ;o) Sounds like y'all had a great time, and the bow, arrows and quiver are lovely!

My Daddy had a bow he used for hunting during 'Primitive Weapon Season'. Never got a deer with it, but he liked using it cause he said it gave them a sporting chance. I tried to pull the bow once, couldn't get it back more than halfway! Don't know what the tension setting was, but I loved to watch Daddy shoot it. He looked even MORE like the Indian (Cherokee, I think) he partly was.

OK! - So beyond keeping everyone focused on getting their plans in order to go.... there isn't anything right now that needs to be done by us?

Morning, and sorry to hear of the outcome of your job situation. Just know that some of the best things that ever happened to me were events that sprang from such a seemingly sad time. I have no doubt that this will be the way of things for you.

am afraid I know not of this chicken dance you speak of! LOL!

It is a favorite 'group dance' for wedding receptions and he like. I had never heard of it until we moved 'up North'. Course, I'd never been to one of these sit down 5 course dinner receptions until we moved to NJ, either. All I could think during the thing was "What a waste of money! Have some cake, punch and cookie, give the kids the cash you would have used for the big dinner, and let em use it as a downpayment on a house!

2J is right, it is incredibly stupid. At least the 'Macarena' has a cool beat, though the first time we saw it done, at our #2 son's 8th grade graduation dinner, SSQ asked if it was some sort of 'mating dance'! LOL!

I think we need to learn the chicken dance for entmoot.

It takes about 1 minute to learn it. It is stupid, but you're right, it's good clean fun. Now the 'Macarena', on the other hand....

Oh, and for the Chicken Dance, you gotta have accordions, or at least a recording of the music using accordions.

Well, for those of us whose jobs and lives are up in the air right now, it is a blessing that we don't have to pony up the cash now, and that there is more time.

We just need to keep getting votes of confidence so we don't end up having to make other arrangements at the last minute.... It would be ALOT more expensive to have to do hotels!
