Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

For some reason, it reminds me of the "Tomacco" episode of The Simpsons.
Horse's got some crazy look in his eyes! lol

Why have such gigantic watering devices in a golf course??That's the only way they can keep the 'greens' GREEN. That's what was so neat about that house in Sedona AZ that we rented. The front of the house looked and felt like the desert, while the patio at the back felt like an oasis!

At one time however, there were multiple non-running vehicles most of the time. Racing does that. Parts cars and such.Yep, yer a redneck!! LOL!! Wear the name loud and proud, honey!

Heya,
Was down in your neck of the woods (sorta) this weekend. We took I-85 down into GA. The VA/NC stretch was a gorgeous drive.

I hope I can get to the latest one before I get any spoilers on it.I've told my kids NOT to tell me what happens. They've mentioned things from books 3 & 4 a time or two, but I wasn't paying attention at the time. I'm almost finished with "Chamber of Secrets"!

Made it to work with a minimum of dog slobber. They're gonna love your new place; all that room to run around!! Can't wait to see the pictures!

Heh...maybe I've travelled it too much...'course I don't usually go south of Greensboro. We usually go a non-Interstate route to my in-laws. But if you came down 95 to Petersburg to hit 85, you weren't far from my house.

Horses begging for dinner at the window when we were playing backgammon!LOL! Fatty looks like "Terminator Pony"!

I loved all the trees- the bark was dark from a shower. The sky was partly cloudy, gorgeous morning light. No traffic- tranquil as can be. It was really pretty. Shoulda took some pics.

Big'ol emailed a couple to me, but hasn't uploaded them to the server yet. (he's busy...*snicker*)
Glad you liked Sedona- some of my most favoritest country in the world... wackos aside.

Yesterday the boys participated in a patriotic bicycle parade...That's really cute! There were several kids on decorated bikes at the park during the Town's 4th of July Festival! One family was ALL on bikes. The dad had a tandem bike with one of the little ones. The other two kids' bikes had r/w/b metallic star garland around them, and the mom had a basket on the front of her bike filled with lovely blue silk wisteria.

R.I.P. Uncle JedMornin, Corin! Buddy Ebsen was one of my Daddy's favorite actors. I didn't know until he told me once that Ebsen could also DANCE! I saw him in an old movie once doing just that!
I know what you mean about grief taking it's own sweet time. It will be 22 years next month since we lost my Dad. I'm getting fahklempt just typing this, but I have so many fun memories. My kids just howl when I tell them some of his favorite 'sayings'. You'd like em, Corin, many deal with bodily functions! ;o)

Glad you liked Sedona- some of my most favoritest country in the world... wackos aside. It is a gorgeous place! I heard that on the wackos! There seemed to be a large number of 'New Age-y' places with crystals, and offering readings.

You'd like em, Corin, many deal with bodily functions! Once again, I just don't know where you people get this impression of me...

We were up your way yesterday! Took the kids to the Flume in Franconia Notch. We went up to Echo Lake for a picnic and saw the cutest little red squirrel. Clare called him Frodo.
I saw the most beautiful birch tree there. The bark was a deep silver, almost bronze and actually METALLIC looking! Do you know what variety of birch that is? I'd never seen one like that before in all our times up in NH.
To: proud_2_B_texasgal
Hey, that's not TOO far from us! If we're ever out that way, I'll have to check it out. Our son will be in Ithaca in the Fall starting Law School. I'll have to see if one is anywhere near there.
To: Corin Stormhands
Once again, I just don't know where you people get this impression of me...Heh, Heh.
