Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Becky: way to go, we thought we were the only ones on this thread, welcome; WebTV Classic-had it six years. It was our introduction to the Internet; our remote unit is acting up, (the "magic wand" not the key board) needs a fine adjustment periodically-okay, we bash it on the knee and it works for a bit, then bash it again. It may need replacement eventually.

I forgot to tell you...

The other day, when that storm went through, lightening struck my car! Melted the passenger side back tire to the concrete! Not enough to make it flat, but enough to make it stick good for a bit!

I don't see any other evidence of the strike, but that had to be it...what else could have melted the tire like that?

I'm really upset (in a sad way) at what happened in the Hole today.

I know I have had some conflicts with a couple of Hole Dwellers in the past, but I always tried my best to patch things up with them personally or at least let sleeping dogs lie where they may. And it looks like no one is mad at me at the moment, so here goes...

You want to know what hurts me the most? The fact that we are like a family in my mind. A bit dysfunctional? Maybe. A bit different? Definitely! But we always stick together and fight for each other when we get beat up on other threads, no matter what we might feel towards each other now and again.

And that is what makes this place like no other in FR. The very fact that we got together on this one thread, despite how we feel about each other on other threads/topics, and have friendships far superior than to some I've had in RL.

Well, let me say this, and you'd better all hear me out!

Say what you will about me. Tell me to "shut up and get me a pint" or "you ain't the boss of me" or even "blow it out your shorts". I'll love you anyway cuz I ain't leaving!

Besides, if I know you don't like me, it's immensely more satisfying to stay here and annoy you! (KIDDING!)

But I'm not joking when I say that am not and will not leave. And to those that have, feel free to FReepmail me because I still love you and want to continue our friendships, even if they can't be in the Hole.

Consider this my anti-opus...the only opus I've ever posted on FR. My tagline means more than some quote from a book. I believe the friendships in the Hobbit Hole dwell within a very deep root.

I lifted this from another thread. It was posted by Lazamataz. I did this so that you could see the proper rules for constructing an opus. Please review and do the opposite for your anti opus. (You missed the references to the good old days ect.);-)

I invented the whistle, the chicken, the horse, religion, the middle east, hobbits, elves, men, ents, breakfast and just about everything else...besides the internet. Al Gore invented that, for course.
