The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hi Lil! What's up?

I just got off the phone. I'm taking a vacation! A five-day weekend over the 4th of July to finally visit a dear friend in New York. Yay! I haven't taken time off in forever.

NEWS FROM TORN: (A lot of it doesn't make any sense, but you'll glean the gist of it.

ROTK Trailer & Poster News!
Xoanon @ 6:27 pm EST

This bit of news was first spotted on DarkHorizons, however people are sending this to me from various sources. The folks from 'Secondhand Lions' did contact me recently to confirm this bit of news in regards to the trailer, so who knows!

Return of the King media release schedule:

Teaser Poster - First of a series of characters posters is supposed to start in middle of June. The first of them will be Aragorn. Then approximately monthly begin to occur the working posters with other characters. The cinemas will or replace already hanging posters with everyone by subsequent creative, or, that is more probable, will collect all collection down to autumn."

Teaser Trailer - The short trailer prepares for start in middle of the summer. From the point of view of general campaign of representation of film it is important, that it differed from impression made by a working trailer of "Two Towers".

Final Poster - Idea in connecting all teasers together and to connect them in a final one-sheet, which will appear at the end of autumn. On the final poster there will be not so many characters, as it was on last poster of "Two Towers"

Final Trailer - Full-length final trailer with special effects for the first time will appear in September pasted to copies of "Secondhand Lions"

From the "I know it is just old Frog Food" category:

Russia's cult video pirate rescripts Lord of the Rings as gangster film
6/23/03, 6:21 pm EST - Xoanon

They call him the Goblin. He is the new toast of Russia's massive pirate video industry, his films sought all over Moscow. The trick of his silver screen success is that the Goblin redubs Hollywood movies, using his own 'better' Russian alternative to the script. A former senior police investigator from St Petersburg, Dmitri Puchkov began by making fresh translations to replace the appalling subtitles on pirated films. But now his cult following has found pan-Russian appeal, with a ground-breaking rewrite of the first two parts of The Lord of the Rings. [More]

But, I got some photos back from Sam's this afternoon and there is one from Christmas of her and Myranda where she has good color and a smile.

Why don't you get that one enlarged, and if you have some sort of get together afterwards, you could display it? Up here, those gatherings are affectionately known as 'dead spreads'. We want to have one at her home parish when Mama dies. We have LOTS of family in town, so that will be a good way to get together.

Pretty cool. Wouldn't get this kind of stuff in public school. :-)

You are SO right, and if he were in school, he may have so much stuff going on that the creative juices may not flow quite so easily!

Isn't it remarkable how so many subjects can be integrated when you have the time and ability to do it?

Cool! A vacation! I don't know if I had asked you before, but what is the brand name of the ice cream you found that is sweetened with Splenda? I found some yummy Sugar-Free, Low Fat Vanilla and Neapolitan from Breyer's. Even the kids like it!

This sounds like what Woody Allen did early in his career ("What's up Tiger Lilly").

Maybe I should re-read them and get aggravated all over again.

I forget why you got aggravated...should I avoid them?

"I agree! SSQ and I were married in 1975!"

So that means you were 16 when you got married, according to my calculations ;-)

I think it sounds funny, but I would need subtitles to the subtitles, so I haven't looked for it in the dark smokey backrooms.

I know the last think you really need right now is a bunch of us giving advice. But Grama won't care about the funeral, and she'll be singin' "Climb Every Mountain" with the real Maria Von Trapp.

And maybe the new minister can offer words of comfort to the family. Maybe your Mom will need that.

At my f-i-l's funeral, we had several ministers speak because of his life long work in the church and missions. One man (supposedly a family "friend" for 30 years) threatened to just leave because I forgot his name in the program (that I typed and printed two hours before the service). It was for my m-i-l's sake that I didn't tell him to take a hike.

I guess I'm telling you that because of things you already know. Even the most "functional" of families can get weird at funerals. Hang in there and remember Grama as best you can.

Then after 13 days come back here and unload all the family crap on us. We'll be here for you.

Yes, the horses are not for eating!

I listened to "Undaunted Courage" on my trip to Kentucky. The Lewis and Clark expedition ate a lot of horses (and a good many dogs)...
