Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Okay, that worked better now for the other 2.

That one may be harder to read but wanted to post it because it says "Thank Heaven these Democrats weren't defending THE ALAMO!"
next

And this one is cool because it's the one I posted about last night that says, "Top Fugitives 1. Osama bin Laden 2. Saddam Hussein 3. Texas Democrats"

It worked! Like the red shoes. :) My T-shirt had a flag on it too. Needed to make myself plain in my alignments!

Like I said, you is famous!!! LOL. I don't know about famous. but, i certainly get riled up enough to step out on a limb from time to time.

The red shoes are a nice touch -- you stand right out (pun there, eh?)

The red shoes are a nice touch -- you stand right out (pun there, eh?) There was a red skirt that the shoes matched ya'll. I just noticed that you can't see the skirt in any of the photos. The skirt goes with the flag shirt.
I'm having a good little chuckle. My "in person" friends have been aware of my Imelda envy for years. And they take my shoes in stride (is that punny?). Ya'll have now been introduced, briefly, to the colorful collection!
Gee, I was going to wear plain shoes today. Now I feel I should have a follow-up. and i don't have a thing to wear!!!
To: Wneighbor
Well done Wneighbor! Thanks for checking in with that update.....now where's the pics? ;^)

WOO HOO! - Love the pics! I think it is great that you went!
So you are going again today?
Hullo! - Good morning!

Well, SSQ might call me Imelda, because I have been buying new shoes for about a year now. I've had to mail order shores because I have double wide feet, and no one carries them locally. Because of this, I have to order them, then send them back if they don't fit. It has been a pain in the rear!
I've switched exclusively to Birkenstocks lately because they're the only ones I can wear and my feet not start hurting within a couple of hours. Actually it is only my left foot, and it feels like a bone spur or something just on the outside of my instep. It is strange.
I ordered 3 pairs of Birkies from a website in Germany yesterday. The shipping cost me more than one of the pairs of shoes, but I STILL saved $40 over what it would have cost me to buy them from the place I've bought from in the past. I got a pair of plastic Birki Clogs for working in the yard, and two pairs of sandals. I have almost worn out the sandals I bought 4 yrs. ago, so I needed some dressy sandals, and I got a pair of wild colored ones, too!
I have adopted the hippie style of sock with my clogs, but in this cold climate, you HAVE to do that! It is finally getting warm enough to wear sandals, though, and I definitely needed them for my trip to MS!

I was going to slip Miss Cat a mickey and take her on a plane as carry-on luggage. That sounds like a great idea for traveling with her. I would be nervous about sticking pets in cargo.... I think mine would die from the horror of it!

Love those red shoes!

Good morning! Just spent an hour and a half on the phone with Dell trying to get them to replace a laptop modem I already knew was bad. Sigh. They do a good job at turn around, but sometimes it takes a lot to convince them to send a replacement part. All done now, though...should have it tomorrow.
Good job, WNeighbor! And good luck with today's mission, if you end up heading back out there!
I still haven't spent my $25. All this talk of shoes has me thinking...you know, I wonder if 2J could find me some cool sneakers for less than that? ;-) I have no sneakers! My last pair succumbed after going on what was supposedly going to be a short hike. Woulda worn boots if I'd known it was going to be eight hours! My friend will NEVER live that one down.

I got a pair of wild colored ones, too! OHHHHH!!! I want to see those!!!

alas, myranda inherited this disease from me as well. it's a genetic thing.
To: Wneighbor
Problem is that I hafta get them on-line! I don't like clothes shopping on-line. Some types of shoes I figure it can be done for, but most I would want to try.
That said, I'm wearing my most beloved pair of hiking boots, which I ordered on-line about six years ago, back when I was in Germany. They're still going strong!
To: Wneighbor
I think you are committed to the fancy shoes now...
